i think it still needs time to settle, but i thought last night the hosts seemed to work a bit better together, seemed less awkward

the conclusion of the f6 vs the r8 sucked

It was good to see the f6 win even tho he sat at the line for ages in the drag race

2nd episode wasnt too bad, the typhoon launch was disapointing though. Didnt mind the tests at the Kalgoolie mine either, I lived in a mining town for 12 years and had quite a few rides in the big trucks including a 793c. But obviously they were never going to beat the effiecancy of the big toys :?

Quote from news report

Producers had hoped to crack the one million viewer mark last night, but instead only 674,000 tuned in, down more than 250,000 viewers from its premiere the week before. Top Gear Australia finished last in its timeslot behind Border Security, The 7.30 Report and Australian Idol. It was the 26th most watched show of the night.

26th most watched of the night...

It used to be via a recording unit plugged into the telly, and they'd give it to so many hundred people. That was analogue though, dunno if there's a way to do it like Frost said.

Yeah John torrents are the new TV! Where else can I get DIVX quality episodes of the latest Entourage?

Top Gear Oz is definitely getting better. I haven't read this thread but I think it's safe to say that if this was UK Top Gear people wouldn't be so critical about it. Everyone is expecting so much but the second episode was decent - not awesome - but decent; albeit with some shitty presenters.

Re: Top Gear Reminder

Postby serial_fool » October 13th, 2008, 8:16 pm

Gotta say, this show is a POS. They spend time talking about some D-list celebrity's first car for 10 minutes and have a Junkyard challange that only goes for only around 5. They should EXPLAIN the challanges alittle more than what they are doing aswell because the last bit of the junkyard challange was just going around a random paddock (just like in the UK version they have people telling them what they will be doing).

So yeah points that could of made the bush basher segment better-

1st task - Go to wreckers- Get cars and provide some background on them and actually have them running well before starting challanges.

2nd task- Take the challange to a 1/4 mile and have drag offs elimination style. Compare the times at the end to the contemporay version of the shitters.

3rd task- Take to challange to a race track and have an actual V8 supercar style race- say 3 laps.

4th task- Last challange is a demo derby to the finish- last one standing wins.

Destroy all the cars with a crusher and bring the remains on set.

Then at the end have a FOCUS on who won the event and rubbing it into the other guys faces. Then say what actually mechanically happened to the losing cars (if it wasnt obvious) rather than just let the thing sit sitting there which is obviously scripted (and the bob-cat thing was stuiped).

By the way, the Clarkson immitator has no guts what-so-ever. He got pussy-whipped by the bitch in a bog standard car (agreeing with 90% of the shit that came out her mouth), grow some balls.

Postby donno » October 13th, 2008, 9:13 pm

We know from articles and the magazine that the execs read these forums to see how we react to the show, so to the people calling it the worst show on earth and boycotting please keep it to yourselves so the rest of us who want to see it evolve get the chance to do so. They've been on air now for 135 minutes, and they've improved a shit load. If this rate keeps up, they'll be getting close to the same level as the original by season 2.

So for some constructive criticism:

#Humor is still missing the mark a lot of the time, but its improving. I thought wozza had some great ones. The shot of him busting out the factory manual was gold. Subtle FTW.
#Serial_fool - your idea for what that challenge should have been, is perfect! Take note producers! Mind if I copy your idea to that 'other' forum serial_fool if you don't have access? I know they'll read it there.
#Put some diesel on the track or something - we need more smoke and outrageous powerslides.
#Camera work - Put a camera at the entrance to the chicane so we can see the body language of the car though it, and a similar shot to the hammerhead at the question mark - squirming under brakes, then have a look at the body characteristics as it rounds the bend.
#Cut down on the colloquialisms. I grew up in the country and couldn't even understand half of them!
#Some shots of motors please! And a bit more on specs, plus if there's anything special about them - like how that black merc gained the extra 17kW.
#Music is pretty good, but was off in the X6 segment. A bit 80s porno. In the track tests some rock like Audioslave or some of the bridges that Cog do would go well. Listen to Cog -The Spine around 3/4 way through as it builds then goes freaking nuts and you'll see what I mean. Imagine that mixed into the exhaust note of that black going sideways at a rate of knots, with diesel assisted smoke pissing out the rear. Chubby inducing material.
