Your first car - seeing it years later

Postby Commando » October 27th, 2008, 2:02 pm

I figured this would be a good thread topic! 10 mins ago I just spotted my old XE parked out the front of my office. It caught my attention because it was painted in in a weird tan/caramel colour which I haven't seen on any other XEs.

Anyway, since the paint attracted my attention, I went for a wander & sure enough it was my XE. I haven't seen the car for 6 years & was stoked to see that it's still in good nick.

So, the reason for this thread: Have you spotted your first car years after selling it? If so, what condition is it in?

Seeing my first car again really made my day! :D

I haven't seen mine. I sold my mini to some guy from nsw.

Once I was out with a mate in his old kingswood wagon. A dude came up to us when we were broken down at a servo and it turned out he owned the car 17 years earlier.

He put Jesus stickers all through it as a joke and they were still there. That was a fair coincidence I thought.

I have only ever owned one car before the AU, and it was a 1990 EAII GL 30th Anniversary wagon, six seater auto! I havent seen it for a while now, but i did see it almost a year after i sold it. It had an EL motor in it on gas still running CFI when I sold it. The bloke who bought it drove it to Brisbane and back two weeks after he picked it up from me, and it made it without an issue! It was a funny story at the time. :?

Saw my Nissan ET Turbo still in good nick bout 4 years after selling it.

I had a 1964 Wolseley thats been in the family since new (35yrs). Had to sell it due to space restraints and $$. Sold it to a hippie like dude from Sale or the likes and thought to myself "don't think I'm gonna see that classic car again" and sadly I still havn't.

Wished I pulled the grill off and hung it in my garage!

Ok, it was less funny and more the shitest story of all time! But if you knew the history of my old car, and they way I treated it, you would be amazed it even drove at all, let alone half way across the country! That thing had been through 4 diffs, 3 tail shafts, 2 autos, a head gasket, countless tyres, and that's just what i remember!

I never saw my old EA S Pack again after I sold it to EASPRINT. Doug saw it a couple times when it still belonged to Dave, but then it got sold off to someone in Geelong. Doug saw it about a year ago and got a couple of pics, don't think he's seen it since. Would love to catch up with it :(

The EAII is my first car but we briefly had an EA1 Ghia as well, which we were going to use for spare parts after my first crash. This happened in 2002 and we bought it for $1200. We ended up deciding it was too good to wreck, tidied it up, replaced the steering rack and sold it for $3500! Long story short, the bloke who bought it got murdered a couple of years later. I remember seeing a news update, and it showed the outside of the bloke's house complete with the EA in the carport! It still looked the same as when we sold it.

I won't see my ED ever again... unless it's in the guise of a neatly packed cube. I would prefer never to see it again than to see it molested by someone anyway.

It didn't actually click at the time. I saw that the car was identical, and it was only later that I found out it was the actual car. It happened at Stratford of all places. It was in all the local news.

Last time I saw my old XF GL was on the side of the road with 2 busted LHS wheels after the new owner thought he was a DK and over corrected into the gutter a week after he bought it off me, lol..
My old Escort Pano was sold to one of dads mates who got it looking scmick, was only just sold to some guy in NSW who just wants to body, doesnt care about the motor in it as hes upgrading. My bet is an SR20, 302/351 or a rotor.

Way to improve a very shit weekend/monday :)

My first car went to the wreckers after we pilfered the engine and box to put in a range rover - dunno how many 250x flows have achieved this much air :P

i haven;t seen my first car since i sold it. A workmate saw it at a servo not long after i sold it, however as i'd just changed jobs he didn't know i sold it, so was leaning up against it while he waited for me to return to it. would have been awkward when the new owner walked out to his car with some random leaning on it.

prob some mint GT rep now, too bad i sold it before XY prices went sky high!

I sold my first car to a forum member and didn't see it for about a year until I bought it back. Always missed that car and always wanted to get it back but never did until I heard it was going to be paddock bashed to death :S now it's slowly being restored back to it's original state.

my first car was written off two days after i sold it, the guy who bought was tearing along a country road and somehow lost it on a very narrow one lane bridge and managed to spin it 180 degrees on the bridge, over 60k worth of damage to the bridge, and this was back in 1992/3 and one very sad very short XA falcon.
hes probably still paying for the bridge lol.
he did the bolt (all messed up and all) so the cops came and saw me cos he hadnt changed the ownership... they took one look at me and said "never mind, the driver is badly injured, obviously wasnt you"... they found him at the hospital, half dead. he survived but i doubt hes ever really been 100% since.

waste of a good xa, had zero rust, warm 4.1, toyota 5 speed, low, nice new paint, fairmont interior, charger rims, i loved it.... the first of many cars i have regretted selling.
