Oh man, that front looks tough as balls now with the bonnet on! Great work mate! I think you may tempt me into going the same way! Where did you pick that up from, and how much did it set you back? I recon it could look the goods with a T3 kit!

Buldge looks great.

Hopefully your buldge stays together, the bonnet on the XR had been repaired twice because it kept cracking in the bog where it was grafted on. Thats why now its being made from fibreglass.

Postby EBOOST » August 28th, 2008, 1:59 pm

well i had an excellent day!!!
nah really it was shit went to get my car tuned with the new maf/piping but i hadnt had a chance to make an airbox for it.
well they wouldnt tune it without and airbox so they did a tune with the old setup and he recons it is very restrictive and maybe even that the manifold is a poor design so it isnt flowing correctly.
so now for a retune i have to pay for just dyno time which i didnt get told till after the tune.
anyway pulled 174rwkw i no its a poor effort but he says the stally is loosing me alot of power and would be 190+ wthout it.
and he said that the stally may be to big anyway so i might stick a stock stally in it as it is my daily.
anyway heres some pics of my new piping setup soon to make an airbox.
Image
Image
not the best quality theyre off my brothers phone.
anyway it'll hopefully get maybe 190rwkw with a retune and the better piping but i doubt it coz its my car lol.
cheers josh.

damn, that's a weird graph. well, if Chris recons its your intake, I would listen to him. He is the man in the know when I comes to tuning the old Ford V8! To be quite honest, if it were me I would try putting a standard explorer manifold back on it, just to see if it makes any difference. Worth a try if you can get one anyway.

ill look into it if the piping doesnt fix it.

good stuff mate

i would look at the edelbrock or trick flow manifold, there pricey but definetly preform pretty well

my motor only had a explorer manifold on it and was flowing pretty good.

Personally i hate those manifolds, they are rubbish.

You have short as hell runners coupled with the fact that the two throttle bodies still have to draw through one opening since it needs the maf, It could be made to work if it was a map based setup but its still a poor design.

I seriously doubt the piping will fix the problem, i'd definately be just biting the bullet and going for an aftermarket manifold like an RPMII or Track Heat it would no doubt unlock alot of the potential this motor has.

Otherwise i like it alot, and its a manual :D

yeah u are right slo_sprint and yeah i think ill get it tuned with this and the manual as its in limp home mode so the fans are on full speed and then ill save for a track heat manifold in black as i think they look really good.
and yeah the manual makes it so much better i love it now lol.

i think they look really good but the flat centre caps dont fit front or rear so i have to get the doned type on or work something out.
also retune is awhile away as coming up to christmas i dont have any money but i am sending my flasher tuner in so chris can take the auto shit out of it and so the fans arent on.

Damn you love changing wheels!

They look good, but I reckon the previous 19s looked better. I reckon some BBoss Eleanors would suit this perfectly.

Just gotta lose the rear badging, put on a S2/3 boot spear and put a black cluster surround back in and it'd look perfect to me.

one tough au man. you will probably make an extra 20kw at the wheels by changing it to manual.

i agree with steady, ditch the manifold.

thanx mate yeah i looked at the trickflow track heat manifold yesterday just stairing at it lol.
but with the aussie dollar its gonna cost nearly $1000 to get it here if not more.
so thatll be next year some time.
yeah chris said roughly 20-25rwkw if it was manual.
what heads do u's recommend aswell i want to get some afr's, edelbrock or trickflow heads but cant decide i want this thing to make good power N/A.

I reckon you'll make more power with even just a port matched explorer upper and 70mm TB on it man, that twin TB manifold is a fair abortion.
Skip the Edelbrocks, either AFR or Trickflow. Aussie dollar is a kunt like you said but :P
Might wanna check what pistons you have too.

just a small update but i have collected the explorer off the old owner that has been port matched to the lower and it has a 70mm au3 xr8 throttle body on it also got some 24lb injectors as it only have 19lber's.
ill be booking in for a retune soon but im not expecting anything crazy ill be happy with anything around the 220rwkwmark.
i have done some research and found out that it is just a 5litre cam the biggest crow do for a roller 5litre but not suited to the 347 so might change cam.
but i have my wedding in october so not much will be happening with it.
ill keep u all posted as to what happens with it.

well then got the manifold on and car feels a bit better havent had it tuned yet but im not going to yet.
reson being is the old owner is full opf crap and the manifold has had very very very minor work done on it when i say minor i mean just the very top of it has been takin out a bit but i will pull it off and get it ported more then take it in for a retune.

looks a bit dodgy but does the job until i get my 4 inch piping and 100mm maf sensor in and tuned.
