VL owner ... eep!

Introduce yourself and your ride.

VL owner ... eep!

Postby Aych Es Vee » January 31st, 2009, 4:00 pm

How ya doin?

Its true, I dont own an E series. I guess I'm kinda the opposition .... a VL Turbo driver.
I'm mates with revhead_88 so I guess I can say I have pretty first hand experience with at least one boosted E series. And I'm a fan.
I pretty much have only posted in his build thread so far, but I thought I might intro myself anyway.

My names Daniel, I live in Canberra, and I'm a tiler by trade.
I own an RB25det VL Berlina (unreliable fun weekend car)
and a BA XLS Ute (trusty useful/work daily car)

VL was my first car, got it as a stocker back in 2003, and got my ute in 2007.
RB25det was dropped in mid 2006.
Not making awesome power or anything, but it does the job for now.
I've done a fair bit mechanical, and not much exterior except for wheels I bought for $200 about 4 years ago and a Calais nose I got just a few weeks ago. Paints faded to crap, and bumpers are cracked, but it will get a respray sometime this year I hope!

Anyways, if anyone cares about VLs here, ahaha, heres a few pictures:

Nice VL! Calais front + ride height make for a good slammed look. Fun conversion with the RB25det! What kind of turbro?

thanks.
Just the stock turbo. Engines all stock. I have a front mount, thats about it.
Its taken me five years to get this far, its a very slooooooow process.

But after I get it painted, I'll think about aftermarket ecu, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc ... all the 'basics'!!
I'll be happy with 220-250rwkw I think

How about when I spray my car :( My brother supposedly sprayed his ute today.
Lives would be good.

$200 WITH almost new tires. Steal of the century. I got it from my dads mate who was a manager at a Bob Janes, and I'm 93% sure he jumped the fence to the Holden dealership behind his shop, and flogged them.

Probably made the right choice. VLs are past their use by date .... every little goes wrong all the time and parts are gettin expensive.
Not to mention, VLs arent exactly bargains anymore :( cheapest, decent condition, turbo models are like $7000+

I didnt even realise I didnt post pics. But its just a regular looking BA ute. RED GOES FAST! haha
Image

And this is actually a picture of Revheads engine in the back of my ute when we first picked it up!
Image

The VL wont have a kit. It will be as is, but resprayed in a VERY light metallic blue, and new bumpers will be silver, not grey.
This is the color I've been looking at for aaaages
Image
Cant see it too well in pictures, but I love that color in real life. Glistens in the sunlight, and it would look good on my car IMO.

installed a calais nose a few months ago, and only wired it up today.
Had revhead do it for me, and it was a piece of cake.

Anyway, I'm making this post because I've always had people say to me 'ive never seen a calais with the lights popped up'
Does anyone else have a fair few people say this to them? Maybe its my location.
So I made a pop up demonstration video. Pretty simple.

And heres some pics.
And YA, I know the nose colour isnt matched exactly
