Booma saying Greetings from SA

Postby Booma » February 14th, 2009, 5:35 pm

Howdy everyone, My names Stuart and I am from the Adelaide Hills.....New to the site, but not car forums in general!

I currently drive an XF Falcon GL (not an Eseries I know....but I'll get to that!) here is a picture of it:
Image

I used to drive a Polynesian Green ED Falcon. I can honestly say it was the best car I have owned and driven so far! Here are some details:

1994 ED Futura
Polynesian Green
4.0L OHC
Stage 3 Crow Cam
Ported and Polished Head
Pacemaker comp Headers
Hi Flow Cat
2.5" Exhaust
5 Speed Manual
Xtreme Clutch
143.7rwkW (last time it was dynoed.....late '08)
King Super Lows
KYB Shocks
17"x8" and 17"x9" deep dish chrome rims
235 and 255 Hankooks

Here is what it looked like!

Image

Image

Then I nailed a tree with it.......................

Fortunately all of the running gear survived the accident (and I got away with only a cut on my hand) and the car is now a donor car for my new project.....a 1993 Poleynesian Green ED Falcon GLi

Welcome mate!

Looks like I've been Out-Rimmed<tm>, I've got similar but they're 16x9s & the centres aren't polished. Got any close-up pics? Any more info on what the rims actually are?

I'm just wondering whether your centres are larger than mine, or wither it's the outer dish part that's 1" larger in diameter. If it's the latter, I'll be happy in the pants :D

Sucks about your last ride, looking forward to seeing your current car evolve.

Pic of my rims:

I have just found out that I don't actually own a tape measure :P so can't get any measurements for you at the moment.......I can say though that your rims look to have the same sort of proportions as mine, so it is entirely possible the centres are the same!

Having said that, I was under the impression that these are two peice rims, and the chrome rim on the front is one peice, and the centre and back of the rim are th other pice....in which case you would need to have the 17" centre anyways?? What I can tell you is that my rims have a 2" dish on the front and a 3" dish on the back and are severely gutter bashed......so I am going to have to invest in some new outer chrome rims!

they might be 3 piece wheels.
Centre/inner/outer

AJR's are 3 piece, as are Simmons.

Can't say I've ever checked mine!

Close-up pics and measurements (whenever you can find a tape measure) will reveal everything :)

No I was not pissed......drink driving is not my style!

LoL, I think it was lucky it hit the centre of the car too.....First things people said just after I crashed it "Are You OK......Can I buy your mags??"

Commando I have just noticed a difference between your rims and mine.............The dish on yours runs into a grove, whereas the dish on my rims runs into the bit where the studs holding the wheel together are. According to the back of my rims they are made in Japan by a company called Jawa....Thats all I know about them

Ahh yep, I see what you mean about the groove. Would love to see some equivalent pics of yours though :)

Mine said "J-Spec" on them, and have "Contra" centre caps.

Near as I can tell without a tape measure the centre section on mine is a bit over 15" across.

And here is a photo showing current ride height of the new one (might start up a project thread at some point....)
