Bugger it.

Someone get me the front suspension/brake setup and diff out of an EB V8 supercar, And a set of rims - I think they run 17x10s? Should be enough.

Also EL GT rotor can be used, but Saloon cars went away from using them because they were getting better life out of the muzzy floating disc.

One of the problems with having EL GT rotors is that they cost about $800 a pair when you need to replace them.

Yep... most of the money in the aftermarket kits (RBS etc) is in the upright machining.

well at least if we have a sample (the FTG uprights) we can get the machining done to that spec instead of making something up.

And seeingst ELGT rotors arent as expensive as everyone seems to think... seems like this is the cheapest option to me.

How about someone actually call a couple brake shops and get prices on rotors and calipers to suit and let me know so then i can tell then engineer and see what he says.

What caliper suits the EL GT rotor anyway???

Here are some photos of a standard EL caliper versus a caliper from a T2 TS50 with the cobra brakes.

Nice pics. Do you keep your brake discs in salt water?

The EL GT rotors include a hub ala the EA-EL. See above for prices (you ninja'd me).

What surprises me about the EL and AU discs is how small the pad contact area is in terms of radius.

Yeah LOL, the big rotors are used as door stops on the shed here, they sit in the rain as theyve developed cracks in them... If you look at a standard BA caliper they have a much wider pad then the ts rotor. it could have something to do with heat dissipation and the diameter difference from the outside edge to the inside edge..

could be partly to blame for warping of standard shyte rotors on b series hax.

Don't pay 2k for the FTG set unless you really want genuine.
If you've got an engineer who can do it cheap and you are willing to organise it, there is a good chance I can get a hold of the spindles and caliper brackets you will need.

My new housemate has a T3 TS50 (which is for sale if anyone is looking...) so if I have some time on the weekend I'm going to pull his and my uprights apart and see if there is any chance of getting an AU hub to fit (like sleeving the E-series upright or something) and what the offset ends up being with said Au hub fitted.

I really have no memory of what they look like so it's probably going to be impossible, but I won't know till I have a look.

If anyone has any spare ED uprights or AU hubs/uprights hanging about feel free to let me know...

the last set of those upc brakes on ebay passed in at 1000 no reserve no bids.. i forgot to get on and check otherwise they would be mine. i was just outbidded on the set on there now but if they are willing to put them on there at thousand bucks then i say we group buy. im in, have money waiting (unless i spend it on someething so hurry!!) so lets organise something for the people who want a proven engineered setup ready to go. i know tim wants a set.. rollin wants 8 piston calipers lol, anyone else interested and has the money or will have sooon? i say everyone spends their government money on these brake kits

its engineered. its built. actually built. not my mates built it/going to build it/can build it. it has the parts thats what makes me think it will work... twin piston calipers 330mm rotors... if they are there then whats gonna be an issue.. apart from the offset thing which he GUARANTEED me would fit with my 20x8.5 rims or i get my money back.

only issues i have heard of is when people fit them to boxcars ie OED666 and his abs/wheel alignment/tram tracking issues because they were ef/el uprights. i have ef and el so im fine with ef/el uprights

Ive chatted to ppl with UPC kit and have 3 people say bad things about them.

UPC carnt even get the right offset of E or AU series so what makes you think he is so great at what he does???

UPC F^%KED over FTG and CMS as there were going to bring the kit out and guess what he sharfted both of them. I wouldnt want to deal with a person like that.

RBS brake kit is proven and no bad feedback and have chatted to 5 people about the kit and all they had to say was great things.

I wouldnt touch UPC kit at all and i have called him and asked a few questions and didnt get my questions answered properly and clearly.

If my engineer cannot come through with a cheaper alternative then when im ready for my next project ill just buy his 4spot willwood 330mm setup for $2600.00 or RBS kit for $2000.00 as i know there proven and stand by there products and give great support.

id rather the wheels sit in a tiny bit.. helps with guard rubbing issues. he says they will fit. if not i get money back brakes go back try again with next supplier.

as for the business deals not my area who knows what happened.. im sure even you dont know the full details.

yes the race brakes kit is good shit.. but dont forget im talking half the price of that..

i have asked him heaps of questions as well got replies to most some i didnt but im sure thats normal.. i am in a workshop where people ring up constantly and sometimes i just cant get back to them or the boss cant.. so if they are serious they ring back a lot of tyrekickers around just talk shit but you have to deal with that treat them as paying customers try answer everything you can.. but it does cost alot of money quoting jobs and not being able to actually work

Somebody quote it here, AFF's restraining order hasn't expired yet.

I'm with you Ef_frmnt, if I could get a UPC kit for $1000 I would just buy one now. The offset change is a good thing for the reasons that you pointed out. Plus if the twin piston calipers aren't enough then there are plenty of bolt on options to go better. From what I understand that can't be done with the RBS kit because it's the EL GT setup, you're stuck with the calipers I believe.

mickyyyy, specifically what bad things have people that you have spoken to said about the UPC kit?

Hmm let me sleep on it, depends how much shit I have to replace on my car this weekend. So far it's at least the brake master cylinder, every time I touch it something else needs replacing.

Malakai - The link to AustFuckedForums is for the TS50 for sale - nothing relevant to this thread except I'll be checking out the hub setup on it on the weekend.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.
