Diagnostics Test... How much$$$

Postby OED666 » March 17th, 2009, 12:21 pm

Hey homo's

how much do you think ford will charge to run a diagnostics test on my tin box. i am currently having issues with the ABS?

Since fitting the correct tone wheels to my big brakes, the check abs light is still on. the abs works for about 1 minute, then the light comes on and no abs. :(

charged me $45 to remove the airbag light. it depends what is wrong with your ABS. could be looking at a sensor which they are making less and less genuine parts.

as bentls already said it just depends where you go, they may make you book it in and pay by the hour or they may just come out and do it in the driveway, at my work if you rocked up later in the day out of the blue we would probably just grab the NGS and check it out in the driveway, cause at that time of day there wouldnt be much point booking it in and stuff

defeats the purpose of spending $2000 on upgraded brakes that dont work as they should... i dont think my insurance would also like it if they were to find out my ABS was faulty..

Brett, that could be great if you could find out.. :)

What is the air gap between the tone wheels and the sensor?

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Find out what it should be and check yours. Even half a mm too close or too far out can make the abs not work correctly.

umm... finding out what the gap should be might be difficult... :S... i'll give it a shot though

edit... now you have me thinking Rollin, could the uprights be different where the sensor fits, hence being the incorrect distance from the tone wheel...
