Useless tyre joints damaging wheels

Postby galapogos01 » April 18th, 2009, 1:25 pm

Has anyone else here had bad experiences with tyre places?

I have had wheel after wheel damaged and scratched by them. Stockers, neat alloys, whatever. I had one place break my lock nut, but reinstall it with a fucked head and not mention it!

Just today I had a recently refinished wheel absolutely fucked by a tyre place (which will remain nameless for now). The guy who did it denied it to his manager, and the manager (rightfully) asked for photos - which luckily I have from the tangcla photoshoot not weeks before. Fucking animals! People have no fucking respect!

The damage:

PS: if you look closely you can see the chunks of clear coat they scratched off on the rim still!

Is the manager willing to cover cost of repairs? Did he acknowledge that his blokes had done the damage?

I've had wheels damaged before, but I didn't care about those ones so I never followed it up.

I had 1 of my GTP's gutter ridden by a panel shop and they took full responsibility and gave me the money to fix it.

I've spoken to him again since the incident. at first the shop denied it. When i said there are chunks of clear still on the wheel and i have photo evidence he started to change his tune. He's agreed to pay for the repair up to a certain amount. We'll see...

Doesnt make it less of a pain in the ass though, does it?

yeah they are all fuckin dodgy ****. I usually watch them while theyre doing it.... the tyre lever will slip and bounce off the front of the wheel, they dont give a shit.

sometimes they use your wheels as a training exercise for school students doing work experience, or trainees. If the damage is only on the outside of the lip, i dont usually worry about it.

i once got my car back from a diff shop and found some sort of oil on the rears wheels that had eaten all the paint away.... that shit fucks you off.... but they were only stockies haha

yeah i had a tyre place chip a brand new set of wheels, didnt notice until the next day because it was pissing down with rain, took it back they claimed they were stone chips, they also scratched the front bar and denied it.

since then ive had the owner of a tyreplace reverse my car out and side swipe a stack of tyres, didn't tell me when he got out because he didn't think i'd seen him do it, only came back out and said he had done it when he noticed me standing there checking it

Yeah I had one one shop **** up one of my TS rims then try and tell me it was stone chips. There were gouges around the whole lip of the rim looked like they had used a flat blade screw driver to get the tyre on. I got 2 tyres for free so i was contempt with that as they were not in 100% condition.

Had one just let the wheel sit there while he was doing other shit and it just fell over. Inspected it later and couldn't see any damage. Checked again later on and some of the clear coat was scratched. Didn't think anything of it 'til dirt got into the holes in the coat.

Almost makes you wanna take your car the the most expensive places that you KNOW do a good job, just to avoid the bullshit.
