Postby Parfrey » February 15th, 2009, 8:56 pm

Hey guys,

well a while back i sold my XR6 ute to buy an XR6 turbo and here it is, had it for around a month.. (not that i've been driving it at all 'cough cough') :?

Its a 2003 4sp auto with about 70k on the clock.. has leather and premium sound :P
also has a flash tuner wih a 10lb tune.. should be going in for a custom tune etc. in a few weeks. I got shane (NFGHIA) to detail it last week and it came up good as! very happy with it!

anyhow

why not? turbo autos are heaps better than manual, you lose boost everytime you take your foot of the acclerator to change gear where an auto just keeps boosting, XR6T manuals are actually quite disapointing when you drive one compared to the auto

mint car by the way man, awesome colour choice aswell

yeah i wanted an auto for a change.. i still love manuals tho. Auto xr6t's are faster at the drags too.

also i didn't want to get a 5sp manual and couldn't find any 6sp that were any good in my price range ;)

Got it for 20g... i thought there was alot more around for less than that but once you start looking the cheaper ones have no options and too many k's. :D
Put a k+n in it the other day.. and tonight i'll prolly paint the cross over pipe where all the paint is flaking off cos it looks gay.
This car makes my ute feel like a waste of time.. It went good but this pretty much stock is way better. NA sucks! lol

Car went into Bluepower for a tune last week.. Chris had warned me that being a BA it would most likely need valve springs, but he wanted to see what it was like. Anyhow it does need them, they played with the tune a little but wasn't worth trying to tune it with the springs how they are. It still made around 245rwkw as is, which surprised me!
Also got the windows tinted dark and got an FPV wheel off Bluepower. :-P
oh and they are blue led's in the footwells plugged into the standard plugs that normally don't have globes in them. might change them for white led's i dunno.

Fitted the F6 cooler i got the other day.. painted it black for more stealthyness! Not sure if it made much difference because its freezing outside tonight, but it loved smoking the tyres through 2nd gear :D
Also got some SSL rear springs and should be getting fronts this week. Can't wait to lower it.

That was with a 10psi herrod generic tune, k+n filter and modified airbox. and no the dyno doesn't normally read high..

Lowxr the cooler is bigger but still smaller than a wog cooler i think. It'd have to make it a bit better, the standard cooler is tiny! and it was only $100 :drinks2:

yeah stock exhaust, fuel pump n stuff. i'd say the exhaust will be the next restriction, then fuel and then most likely the auto :glare:
sometimes i want a manual.. a modded auto and a t56 conversion are prolly around the same price...

its kinda deceptive to drive because its so quiet and smooth, it just keeps pulling!

the only restriction in the exhaust is the cat and dump on these aparently u can get a direct bolt in for both of them and people make 400rwkw so id do that as i like the sound of the exhaust on these not to loud.
but the fuel pump and injectors would be maxed out nearly id say.
cheers josh.

can't really become much of a sleeper because it still looks like an xr6/xr6t.

not sure how the old BTR is liking the power.. might have to start thinking about a t56 or better auto!

Yeah we lowered Tiga_EL's XR6T over the weekend as well and it just seemed too high for SSL's at the rear and SL's at the front, they definitely need to be compressed.

Still looks way better though, silver ICC looks good too.
