Well if the cash is going into their accounts they would be getting interest off the money that is sitting there, so they would be getting paid a bit depending on how long they decide to hold onto the money.Wouldn't be a hard job to do would it? Just transferring the money over to each of their clients accounts.

Why?
You get interest monthly (well you do in my account), so if they hold onto it for a month then they will earn a fair bit of money depending on how many clients they have. Makes sense if you think about it.

How do you think companies such as Paypal make their money? They hold onto the money for about a week or so and make their money through the interest they get.

It works well in theory - until you take into account the cost of administering and re-distributing the money to clients.

It doesn't make sense after administration costs. Corporate working cash bank accounts earn next to no interest anyway. Not even enough to cover the cost of administration.

Yeah I get what you mean tangcla. I know you make interest Jai but they wont make much seeing as though they are distributing the money out ASAP and its going to take quite some time to get all their clients account details and transfer the money across.

But, shouldn't they already have all their clients details from when they do their tax returns?

Depends on the accountant, my return goes into my accountants bank and then he sends me a cheque minus his fees, so he doesn't have my bank details.

O/T... Speaking of interest, there was a tatts syndicate at my old workplace & the syndicate won $1.2M. The entire $1.2M went into the syndicate organiser's account for 3 days before the shareholders received their cut, but in that 3 days he'd received $700 interest!

Because do you really think an accountant is going to sit there going through people's back accounts transferring money, or even pay someone to do that for them to accumulate a few hundred bucks?

PayPal make most of their money from fees and taking x% out of transactions.

you'd have to be holding onto a serious amount of cash to make a reasonable amount of interest out of it.
I know my work is trying to optimise their working capital to make the most of interest we should be getting
but we're talking millions.

I keep on getting mail from the previous tenants that lived at my place last year. They CBF updating their details to the banks, doctors, sporting associations, RACV, centrelink, bills, VicRoads, etc etc, but they *could* be bothered with sending me a letter saying "please forward on all mail to xxx"

I received their Rudd cheques a fortnight ago. Been getting lazy with forwarding on mail lately, maybe I should forward them on soon :P

Their problem, not mine!

Eduardo has been in the family for decades, he's also our gardener & general manservant. Mum sometimes spends all day gardening with him, usually when Dad's at work.

But seriously, wrong terminology, I meant buggy/bag carrier/wheely thing.
