EA falcon pod filter help

hey guys im going 2 wreckers today to grab a EF / EL air box so i can fit a pod in it. i was just wondering do pod filters fit in these airbox's ? and do i just grab the actual box or the piping and shit aswell.

any help on how to get a pod to fit a EA (in a box so its road legal).

also unless you have a BBM from later e series you wont be able to make that airbox fit to your car.

for EA EB ED it is quite hard to get a pod to fit inside an enclosure the best cheap way is get an ea intake pipe onto the TB put the pod on that then get rid of airbox and make a custom sheet metal or plastic one yourself to shield it from heat and seal it in a bit better.

haha lol, i found a pod helped to let it breath a bit easier but you can tell the difference from the beginning when you ahev a cold engine bay compared to 20 mins later when its nice and toasty in there, it just feels a little bit more sluggish. CAIFTW

Catback is a much better alernative tho, exhaust note > induction noise.

Make sure you buy off someone from here though, mr muffler quoted me $400 for a 2.5" catback no name brand and i picked one up off here for $150 with a chrome dump pipe. They are easy to fit.

then gonna have to wait to find a nice cat back ... if its a dodgy brand will it sound shit ?? and to install it do u just weld it on caus my mate would b able to do it for me

no doubt that better brands sound better in my opinion. ive got a no name brand and its loud with a single muffler but ive heard better e-series with redback or lukey exhausts. In the end it comes down to personal preference though.

Performance wise between my 2.5" mandrel bent no-name vs 2.5" mandrel bent redback would be only noticeable on a dyno id think.

No welding required for the exhaust, its literally bolt on, you may need new exhaust gaskets though which are a few dollars from your local exhaust shop. However if you want extractors you'll have to modify your cat converter or as i did, buy extractors with the cat modified to suit. Cost me $250 for my pacemakers which are a good brand with the modified cat. oh and by modifying the cat i mean it will require welding, ive been told by others that its $20 - $30 to have done.

umm im in sydney , nah ill stick with a exhaust for now , just its so stock i dont like the feeling , they sound heaps tough with exhausts gotta keep my eye out.

ok good luck with finding an exhaust and fitting it, really its not very hard. Just post a thread in the for sale section asking for a 2.5" sports exhaust in sydney (west,south,north or whatever). Hopefully someone nearby will have one, otherwise check ebay.

hey im getting similar things to my car, getting King lowered springs and Monroe GT shocks for my EBII for $630 from a place on Ebay located in vic, also have seen catback 2.5inch Redback exhaust advertised for around the $250 mark on Ebay.

i like your avatar, nice kit. $250 is good for a redback compared to new one from what ive seen they are usually 400 ish new from mr muffler, although they seem to fluctuate a bit pending on where you look.

you will be suprised, this was a brand new one! i was gobsmacked! abit hard to find a good set of headers/extractors under $400 to go with it though. yeah i like that picture, wish it was my car though! but the EBII 6cyl might get abit of a body kit and a spoiler when it is done up abit!

also if i did get the catback system from redback would a set of pacemaker extractors fit onto the redback system or would it be best to keep it all the same brand?

nah it all fits right up, but as i said to vey earlier you have to modify your cat converter to fit. Ive been told by other this costs 20-30 bucks but what i did was ask around here for a set of pacemakers with a modified cat and hey presto! i got an offer, $250 for pacemaker extractors with the cat to fit and its all bolt on. ill show you pics as i did it myself. Took a bit of messing around to get them to sit right tho

yeah that looks real good, were the pacemakers 2nd hand? they are the exact ones ive been looking at from the joint im getting my suspension kit but theirs are $429 brand new with no cat, my dad is a sheet metal worker and welder , he is very good with modifying stuff like this, he patched my mates exhaust up pretty well when he ripped half of it off going over a gutter lol. but you can get higher flow cats that would be a better suit than the standard one wouldnt you? or does this mod to fit it effectively make it flow better?

yer second hand pacemakers with cat for $250, just ask around. When people turbo their car they have to put in special exhaust manifolds so they sell their old extractors anyway. ull get it cheap here. as i mentioned up a bit, just post a thread in the wanted section for pacemaker ph4499's. ull get a set for around 200 with out a cat id think from someone here. As long as they have no damage second hand ones are fine.

Well if your dads a great welder then he could probs do your cat for you too. dont quote me but i believe the intake for the cat is already 2.5" whereas the output is 2.25" but u may wanna check that. Some people change the output flange to 2.5" so it flows 2.5 all the way through. That section is very short though and i cant see it mattering at all on a non-turbo mildly modified car used for street purpose.

As for the hi flow cats you can buy them so they are bolt on to your system but the overwhelming consensus is that the stock cat flows very well if its not blocked. From what ive seen they are quite expensive. Id recommend using your stock cat if you can have it modified for free, you can always upgrade later on if you get the extra money but not many people will tell you that you actually need one.

In the end it comes down to how much you wanna spend, you could take it to mr.muffler and ask for paceys, hi flow cat and redback exhaust + fitting he would probs want over a grand. i got a quote for some no-name extractors plus no-name exhaust with my standard cat kept and he wanted $800 just for that . My setup has cost me 400 in total cos i did it all myself and learnt alot about them along the way, its quite rewarding.

cool man thanks for all the info, yeah when i get the exhaust i will install myself i think and try n get a good deal on the redback exhaust and pacemaker PH4499 with the standard cat, my dad should be able to do it hes been welding for nearly 30 years and hes very good from what ive seen. thanks man
