What happened to Stockstandard?

Postby oneredED » September 27th, 2007, 9:19 pm

Hey guys, just wondering if he's still around the traps? I'd love to pick his brains about his MS2 conversion is all, and don't know where to find the bastard :D

yep Fordmods, there is a massive thread about his MS2 install on his EF. He has since removed the MS2 and now has an XF project on the go which will cop a 4 litre and the MS2. :D

I don't think he will sign up here Dan, our tech section is kinda lacking which is a shame. Sorry guys but if I ever need any tech info I search FM, and usually find what I'm looking for.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if he was still active on FM or not. I've read through his thread, and he's skipped one critical step (IMO) when he's explained "how" he did things.
To me the actual wiring in of the megasquirt was far more simple than the way he did it (i just plugged it into the factory loom), and yet he explains that process thoroughly.
But then, there's all the BASE settings in MegaTune, which I'm having a little trouble with and yet there's not a mention of them in his write up. (ie. I have no idea what the "next-pulse cranking tolerance %" should be... or even where to find it out etc...)
Just hoping he's skipped these steps because he found them easy, and I'm hoping that if I ask nicely he may be able to help :)

Yeah he is a good bloke. Just PM him on FM if you have an account, I'm sure he will take the time to give you a detailed response. Another person worth talking to about MS2 is Walkinshaw, he had a few hiccups with his MS2 but eventually got them all sorted (I think). He's another very smart clued up guy, who will probably be more than willing to help you out.

With a gentle nudge I found my way across :)

I agree that the way I wired it was not the easy way to go. I only did it that way because at the time nobody had them working so I wanted to do things in a way that would mean the least stuffing around with the factory looms (and least risk to the rest of the electronics). It meant laying out more wires but it did keep everything separate. Still, I wouldn't do it that way again.

I dont think I changed much at all from the base megasquirt tune, aside from the obvious number of cylinders and displacement.

Ill see if I can dig up my tune file and send it your way.
