it's a process west stage 1 cooler. uses stock piping, which i'm happy about.

hopefully it frees up the intake a bit.

i'm debating whether or not to wait until i do the turbo porting/actuator, injectors, valve springs and exhaust before i put this cooler on.. or if I should just put it on and get it checked to make sure AFR's are ok.. On a completely stock car with stock tuning, there was supposedly a 25rwkw improvement just from bolting up the cooler. with AFR's at like 11:1....

But i'm concerned about just bolting this up with my injectors so maxxed out...

I will probably get all the rest of my mods done in the next few weeks anyway, so might wait until i get it all done, then a full re-tune.

hint hint dylan lol. Stealth ftw. Gonna fit my sunshades before deca lol. Why not go for same power on less boost yags or put some injectors in and retune?

That's my plan.. injectors and fuel pump with the cooler, and run it up same power but less boost. The more efficient i make the flow of air, the better the engine will last as well. not as much pressure on the poor thing.

Then in a month or two run up a full exhaust, valve springs, and turbo mods... then do a full retune.

I'm aiming for 320, as i think that's a good point to be at on the road. Plus the engine/gearbox and clutch should be sweet at that point. i think 273 is wild, so i can only imagine 320 .. Way too much power for the street.

are intercoolers directional?

Or if I got a plenum at a later stage, could I run the turbo outlet to the drivers side of the cooler, and then the intake pipe from the passenger side of the intercooler to the plenum?

Yes intercoolers only work 1 way.

Right to left or vice versa, better ring plazmaman.

If you think 273 i wild don't bother with more power you only going to kill somone else, and yes make sure you get the correct intercooler as they only flow inone direction, be sure you have the right one!

Coming from an ED fairmont and EL2 XR8, 273rwkw is wild. I didn't say I couldn't handle it, or adjust to it, just that it's a whole other world that I haven't experienced. And for the record, I love it, and can handle it fine

hahaha yeah.

I'm just spewing I can't afford the turbo porting/wastegate flapper/exhaust at the moment.

Oh well, this should see me with around 285rwkw reliably and consistently. I'll break to 320 in a couple of months..... weeks............. ?

why does everyone spend a grand on mods then get their XR6 Turbo retuned?

just spend the 5 grand, do the lot in one hit and then tune it. why **** around? i thought that was only for e-series.

I haven't got 5g to hit on it at once. I'm doing it in stages. My main reason for doing this round of mods now before i get the turbo work and exhaust, is so that everything isn't being maxxed out to get the ~275rwkw. My injectors at full song were going 98% duty cycle. Even though the tune was safe and good, one hot day, or a bad batch of fuel, the standard cooler/injectors might not like it..

If I had the extra 2.5g i would spend it on the exhaust and turbo work. Instead, I'm going to get the bushes in the rear end done to tighten everything up back there.

Hopefully by Christmas i will have enough to get the exhaust and turbo work, then the retune.

Oh, and this came in the mail today to replace the shitty ford filter and line. Should keep the turbo nice and lubed!

i did the cooler and oil feed line at my mates workshop.

Mick from pit lane is doing the valve springs, installing my clutch/short shifter, installing injectors, fuel pump, and giving it a re-tune..

I'm hoping I can just break 300 safely for now on the stock zorst... Might need a couple more psi to get the air forced through the shit cat and centre muffler pipes... hahah.

They go for $925 for the kit, and add $40 if you want it all black.. They are really good quality, and he said it should hold 340rwkw without a drama.

I went for it because I'm trying to keep the car looking stock.

They only thing that gives it away that I have an upgraded cooler is the hose clamps on the passenger side .. I might need to paint them black.

Ended up cracking 300 which was very surprising!

Car goes really well. Don't want to give it heaps until the clutch has some more kays under its belt, but the power is a lot stronger, and he showed me how much the intake temperature had dropped since installing the cooler. Quite a difference.

The Option 3 has a lot more roll over noise, which is fine. The shifter makes the car feel 100% better to drive. A lot firmer shifts.

Can't wait for the cruise to Heathcote this Saturday.. Not racing though :banghead:

Looks like a great piece of kit, and at an awesome price too!

People have been saying the car spools up a lot quicker as well, which is what i'm looking for. 8-)

How long until you sink some money into yours?
