HATRED OF PANEL BEATERS NOW X11ty BILLION SQUARED x INFINITY

ARGH!!! FU(K I HATE THE ****!!!! ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!1!!!

FUYCK!!

Ok... as most of you may know, I got hit up the arse last year... Got the car repaired under insurance... found the boot leaking, and i took it back. the """""fixed""""" it with none other than sikaflex! and it was fucking everywhere! It still leaked, so I contacted the insurance company and they said to take it back, and I refused. So, I am in the process of getting it fixed somewhere else, through insurance.

So... I bought an ED XR6 boot garnish off ebay last week. Thinking I might fit it this arvo... well.. I may as well put a commodore rear garnish on, it might actually fit better!

I compared the 2 garnishes, (one the panel beaters fitted, and the ed xr one). The panel beaters one is an EB one, that they have painted around the number plate section (which i might add looks good). anywho, I noticed that they had to fuxor with their garnish to make it fit flush. its bent like a banana, and they have shortened the upper mounts that fix the garnish to the boot. My new garnish, which has NO damage to it, sticks out like a fluro, flare bandishing homo at a straight blokes bucks night!

SO... I have a feeling they have fitted an EA boot to my car! Sunny, if you read this, can you check if there is a different part listed for EA and ED boot lids. Now some of you might be thinking I'm on drugs, but Ford changed little shit which people might not notice. Like for instance the metal inside of ED doors have all the mounting points for EF/L door trims. EB 2's didnt.

If only I had a cold alcoholic beverage, or 19 to drown my sorrows!

Surely they have to replace it with an exact part number or something? Say it isn't the right part- fix it.

Paul, if you end up having to pay to get it done, go to Logan Village Smash and see Rob Haiken, he does great work and does it properly

+1 for hating shitcunt panelbeaters.

Tell the insurance company what has happened and that you expect them to pay to have the car repaired to original condition (ie, an ED boot on an ED would be a good start, and non-leaking tail lights would be even better) then make sure you take it to one of their recommended repairers.

If they fcuck it up, just keep ringing up and ringing up and make their lives hell until you find a scumbag who will fix your car properly.

If you take it to someone you prefer they might not be so willing to pay up to get it fixed.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

+1, you have the right to keep them on their toes, If the boot is a hacked up EA item, show/tell the insurance company and go from there. What about the Department of fair trading, consumer affairs or whatever its called?

Tell the shop that your a member of a car club, and that the dodgy practices of the shop are now all over the place, if they don't fix it properly up the barsteds!

I hate shops like this, they cause a bad image for others in the trade. ****!

Well, its going to another panel beaters down the coast. its booked in for a leak test etc on tuesday.

I agree Nikk O'Lass, its not fair on the trade. Its the same with most things unfortunately, ppl think they can get away with doing a quick bodge job.

If this place does a good job, I will certainly give them a good wrap!

Whilst it is the insurance companies responsibility to restore the vehicle back to it's orginal condition, They entrust the repairer is fitting the parts of same age. If the repair shop has done otherwise, then they have gone against you and the insurer.

Firstly confirm it is an EA bootlid.
Secondly, call insurer and advise that their assessing dept needs to be told of this.
Thirdly, ask that due to the blanent intentional error, you want the boot replaced by another repairer.
(Yelling, screaming, swearing, and harrassing and insure does not help)
If you are not successful, take the matter higher.
Basically, if any relationship exists between the repairer and insurer, then it will be reviewed and possible down graded. To then you can **** up the repairer (this is assuming the insurer referred you to the repairer)

Does anyone know how I might be able to find out its an EA boot lid?

When I contacted the insurer for a 3rd time, I said I didnt want to take it back. They contacted the orginal panel beater, and they said they wanted it back, but considering I am not paying for it, I dont have to take it back.

I dont go off like a shitknt on the phone, as I know the insurance ppl are trying to help me out. I'm only venting at the people who said they will look after it, and repair it properly.

If I have no luck with this repairer then I will take my car back to NRMA to have it assessed.

When I went to the 2nd panel beaters and showed them, and explained what had happened (with the boot leaking) they said that they cant get it to seal all the time. Looking at it now, no wonder it didnt seal when its not lined up correctly in the first place.

A lot of EA owners who fit the EB rear lights and garnish end up having problems with the leaking boot. They have to cut holes for the reverse lights, and water usually gets in around them. If they fitted an EA bootlid, that's just dodgy as hell.
