few pics from my canon 450d

Postby eb5speed » March 19th, 2009, 4:17 am

ive had my dslr for about 6 months now, im am still learning but am trying. there are so many different techniques, like lighting setups. i hadnt held an slr camera since year 11 at school and that was 6 years ago so i didnt know anything really about them. so all of this came from reading articles on the net and trial and error.

my ultimate goal out of it, is to set up a part time business providing people with decent photos of there cars. but not be too pricey ofcourse. that way it would help pay for all the equipment that i wish to purchase.

here are some of my photos
Image

Image

Image
the 3 above images are taken using a softbox, and walking around the car painting light on it. the first image is straight from the camera, second has had the white balance and exposure adjusted on the computer, 3rd has had white balance, exposure adjusted and background deleted.

Image

Image
me attempting to light the car using multiple flashes, my technique on this need work

Image
was hoping to light the car up more, maybe i might use the softbox technique with this style of photo and see what results i can achieve, but i like the lighttrails in the background from passing trucks on the freeway.

Image

thanks for looking, and comments are appreciated.

hey mate,

some very nice pics there. Im actually looking at possibly buying a Digital SLR very soon too (if funds permit me too). How hard is it to learn about the features of this camera and does it have the quick continous shotting?

I want to spend under $1g and the lower the better to make it possbile for me to afford....and i think this one falls in the price range.

cheers

450D is a decent all-rounder. Good for future expandability, a capable camera.
By 'quick continuous shooting', the answer is 3.5fps with the 450D. (My 1D Mark II N does 8.5... it sounds like a machinegun  )

cheers tangcla, it is a working process. i seen some of the later ones that you have done and they look really cool. especially the one where you got someone to sit behind the ute with a flashlight.

i will watch the white balance, i really need a newer copy of PS though or lightroom. both wont let me upload RAW images and i have downloaded all the patch's i can find.

a 450d you will get for $1000 body only, around $1250 one lens and $1400 twin lens.

a 1000d (very similar to the 450d) you will get for under $1000

Best off getting a 450d without any lenses then buying proper ones. The kit lenses are arse.

Depends on what you shoot. At f/8 and above, the kit lenses are surprisingly sharp - actually most lenses are.

but AF without USM... I don't know if I could go back there again... :D
