Mark's EL Fairmont Ghia

Postby EL Fairmont Ghia » June 16th, 2009, 11:08 pm

Hey guys, first post.

Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Mark, live in Brisbane and I'm 19. About a month ago I purcased my first E-Series falcon, upgrading from my XF.
It's a '97 EL Fairmont Ghia with just over 100k kms on the clock. Engine is great but I need to service the LSD and auto gearbox. All I have done to it so far is put my stereo in it from my old car with some new speakers. I removed the standard premium sound package and put it all in properly myself and I am happy with how it looks in the dash (it sits very flush and looks classy). The stereo now consists of:

-Kenwood Head unit (not sure which model)
-TS-D1720 C 6" Pioneer Splits in the front
-TS-D1602 R 6" Pioneer Coaxials in the rear
-FXA-5100 1800w 5-channel Cadence Amplifier powering all speakers
-15" MTX Roadthunder Subwoofer in custom box

so I' pretty happy / proud of it. It has the Tickford enchanced 6 (no 8 or turbo yet 'cos I'm still on my P's xD) so it was definitely a power upgrade from my carby XF. I am also currently in the process of removing the silver pinstriping just for a cleaner, more refined look. Down the line I will probably get some mags (maybe with my tax return :D), most likely some BA XR8 18" Replicas because I think they suit the car. Lowering and tint will also be down the line but being a student it will take a while to get the $$$ for it all. I doubt I will get an exhaust / extractors because I plan to turbo it so that will be a waste of $1300 which is like a third of a snort kit anyway. It also has a K&N Panel Filter in it that my girlfriend bought me for my birthday, but I doubt it would give any gain without any intake / exhaust modifications. So that's my car, enjoy :)

Feel free to throw up a comment be it positive or negative, cheers,

Mark.

nice car mate i cant see where you got $1300 for an exhaust. there is a place that makes pacemaker copies for atleast half the price and you can get a cat back exhaust off ebay for like $180. if you can weld or know someone who can you could do the exhaust yourself cutting out a big chunk of cash. the K&N filter will help a bit if you upgrade your exhaust as you also have the el intake which is alot shorter than the EF one and you could get a EF-EL xr6 snorkel for more air aswell all should be able to get for under a grand.

cheers corey.

1300 is normal for a full exhaust. for a good one anyway.

Fixed, and aside from custom headers, you won't find much better than Pacemaker comps. Real world difference between 4480s and JMM scav/race headers is 3/8ths of FA.

$1300 is a rip unless it's stainless and a high flow, 2.5 cat included. $800 is on the money.. +/- $50

Nice car mate! Like the sound of waiting to do it all at once. You'll get there quicker at least!

Have a look at his snorkel mate, don't think he needs to change anything.
