Genie extractors... any good?

Postby SgtBourne » October 2nd, 2007, 4:39 pm

Hi Guys,
I went out to an exhaust shop and got quoted on genie extractors, 2.5" exhaust and a highflow cat all installed for $1150.

Now first up I'm sure i could get it cheaper if i sourced the parts myself but lets just leave that argument alone.

I cant really afford the extra cash for the pacemaker extractors so i just wanted to know if you guys thought genie extractors were ok?
So much RAM the motherboard twisted off the POST.

I have genies on my 5L. From what I understand people get a bit more power and prolly more torque out of the pacemakers.
I wouldnt say genies are bad at all, just say that pacemakers are a little better :)

$1150 is a rip, try another exhaust shop. Even if that price included a high flow cat it is expensive imo.

hmm according to the genie / pacemaker catalogue the genies are a little bigger in the sec pipe on the ea-au 6cyl pipes.
i dont know how this would effect performance

Having the bigger primarys gives you more power up high in the rev range the con is that you dont gain a lot of torque down low with them.

The 4499 Pacemakers have the largest pipes of the Pacemaker range IIRC.
Genie's are not bad, the real advantage that the Pacemakers have over the Genie's is the way they merge from three into one and then two into one. Every pipe or collector goes inside the next one down so there is no massive restrictions in the direction of flow. It's a very good design that Pacemaker has the patent on so no other major manufacturer is allowed to do it this way, hence why Pacemakers are now worth a testicle!

I would suggest look around on ebay for some second hand Pacemakers.
