Hmmm what to do?

Postby get_an_ea_today » October 4th, 2007, 9:53 am

Hey guys,

I recently got a loan to buy a car - but now the sale has fallen through and i have 7grand to spend.

What should i do

1. turbo the ea and make it awesome
2. buy another car and sell the ea and "do up" the new car
3. pay the loan back

????

Well you're going to have to pay back your loan anyway. Don't spend it modding your car whatever you do.

He didnt want to sell the car too me because i havent seen it in person and he has some buyers in vic that are interested in buying it, so if any one in vic buy it he wont have to freight it. Or something along those lines anyways.

If I were you I would buy a EL/EF fairmont thats tidy but with a blown head gasket or something so you get it cheap and then drop your current drivetrain into it. (Assuming the motor has BBM) You seem to have a decent engine combo at the moment so why waste that because you still won't get more then $1500 for the EA.

Fair enough. I think I'd be reluctant too to sell a car to someone sight unseen (although I've bought sight unseen a few times myself).

This guy who's a friend of a friend sort of thing took out $10,000 from the bank to buy a car.
He's one of these guys who's all show and is kind of a bit of a ****head. Anywho, he's now paying off this 180sx he got which is pretty hot, runs well, bling here n there and now he has no life.
He works as a carpenter and cant come out anymore cos he cant afford it. Infact the other week when I asked him to come to st kilda for a cruise, he said he couldnt afford the petrol.... (or maybe he just doesn't like me :o )
I cant help but disapprove of getting loans for cars

+1 for pay it back. you lose out on a grand, but really...beats the hell out of paying back some 10k in the long run eh? or if u must, few people, John is the olny one i know of (remembering your build thread in the other place) turbo EA for less than 2k, pay back the rest.

keeping it will only be a pain in the arse in my opinion.

either buy BT's EB, or find a nice mind ED Fairmont Ghia. Sell the EA, buy a T5 conversion and wack it in the ED.

or give the money back. loans lick the wang

Give it back if you can, loans for cars are teh suckzors, I know first hand. Oh God do I know.

If you can't give it back and save up for mods instead, either but BT's EB or a nice straight ED Fairmont Ghia (as OED said)

The velour and power windows etc make them an excellent base to start modifying from, and you will end up with a really nice car. You'll probably even have change to get a rebuilt shift-kitted auto and a lokka if you spend your money wisely ;) then you can enjoy skids while piecing together a turbo setup...

...Unless you just want to go bullshit fast, in which case turbo EA ftw. But I can almost guarantee that a 12 second ED Fairmont will give you more happiness than an 11 second EA - the amount of time you can enjoy bulk hp < the amount of time you can enjoy climate control and comfy seats.
Image

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

Well i figured this i can have a fun car or a luxury car. I can always get a luxury car down the track its not like this will be my last car - so i decided on getting a fun car - way more powerful the my ea and has pretty much all the mods i want for now :D

So im planning on selling my ea after I get most of my goodies off it.

I'll post some pics of my new car hopefully Sunday :)

Thanks for everyone’s input - this forum is awesome!!!!!!!!

if the wiring is all there, then its easy as. I had the wiring for the console switches, but nothing in the doors... i would like to get the proper wiring one day.. :(

Window regs are really easy to change.
