Steve's ED XR6

Postby stav50 » June 29th, 2009, 8:06 pm

Hey guys, thought id do a write up of my car since i got it last year. I bought it lowered on king ssl and some sort of 2.5 inch exhaust with a shitty cd player and some FTRs and dark tint. It looked like this:
Image

After getting it i put my old cd player which actually worked and it stayed like that for a while. First to do was put in some new audio gear and a bargain came that consisted of 2 12 inch subs in box with 2 amps and wiring. So i bought these and installed them. They sound great but i need to mount the amps better.

It stayed like this for a while till i got a daily. A BA Fairmont Ghia with everything including LPG injection. Waited a while and then got some pacemaker extractors thanks to Phat el. When i put them on i found out the cat was stuffed so i got a new redback 2.5 inch highflow metal cat put in and also the rear muffler taken out so thats its now nice and loud. Ive tried stockies snowflakes and combo of some chromie 19s on the front and stockies on the back. All looked faily crap, i also put some tinted taillights on but again looked pretty crap so back to the normal lights. Got some nice looking 17s on there now and im happy with how it looks.
Image

This weekend it was at kevs geting a manual convo done on it, with an ea box and all that jaz. For the end of the stick ive got a genuine EB leather gear boot and a (most likely fake) 6 speed FPV knob. Now i no its not a 6 speed but i liked the look of it better than other standard ones and it wasn’t too expensive. After driving it all today and last night i love it as manual its sooo much better. Ill get some pics up tomorrow of how that looks in the car.
Thanks for reading and let me know what u think.

That looks so sexy in those pics!

If I could afford a daily (as well as...well...my daily lol) I'd love an ED identical to that!

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

small update i put my koni yellows in today, and went for a small drive, thay are awesome. didnt think it would be as noticeable especialy as just in rear but it doesnt bounce around as much anymore pretty happy with them, now just need some for the front. didnt take very long to change them either pretty easy too.

also put some plastic interioer bits back on so it looks shmick.

bit of an update, lost my job a few months back so havnt really had the cash to put money into this.
however ive had the time to put in the electric windows that had been sitting in my garage for 10 months haha.
so they are in and running nicely.
its running very rich spitting petrol out of the exhaust n shit so it needs a tune badly.

have a standard cam also sitting in the garage that will be going to wade to be ground to a 977B when as soon as i have money haha, when thats ready i think ill get a J3 chip as well which should help with the running of the car so i spose ill be on the hunt for an el XR6 ecu soon.
should also be putting some drilled and slotted rotors on it, not sure how worn they r so unsure atm, and also hopefully some thermofans.

im also thinking of BBM and serpentine belt convo when i do that shit, but that all require time and money so gunna have a think about that and figure out if its worth it or not.

will hopefully be updating this a bit more regularly as i wont be needing a car for work so this will be more of a toy.

ok, so this car has been a bit of a c*nt lately. first the A/C shat itself and long story short im told it needs a new evaporator which is in the heater box behind the dash, so yeh gunna be annoying to do or get done.
about a week after that the clutch started slipping so need a new one of them too. also its been running rich for a while, i replaced the o2 sensor and that didnt help it but today i replaced the map sensor cos i thought that was the problem, and after resetting the ecu and not reconnecting the batter properley i finally got to the point where it woulnt start so i inspected the vac line better its broken at the manifold, so theres my problem so will get a new one tomorrow and that will hopefully fix it.

so if anyone has a decent used clutch laying around they wanna get rid of let me know i may want it as long as its in good nic.

got it running!! i spent most of today fixing the vacum leak which was a bitch to do, then it still wouldnt start cos the spark plugs were dirty as so had to give them a clean after taking ages to figure out what was wrong, its running a bit rough which im hoping cos its just the ecu relearning everything as i reset it. anywhoo just thought id add it in.
also broke one of the fan belts when it finally started tho so thats a bit of a bugger, will do that tomorrow then it should be right to run.

next up get the air con fixed. hopefully it doesnt cost me an arm a leg and maybe a testicle.
