Bob Jane

Postby gerbzjen » July 6th, 2009, 6:36 pm

So, I had an interesting experience today. I got to meet the legend that is Bob Jane whilst I was at work, we were at Calder Park Raceway. He took me and my boss for a spin down the quarter mile...at 40kms an hour albeit lol, but still pretty cool getting into a car with a famous driver.
Anybody else had an experience with a famous driver?

I installed Allan Moffat's foxtel. Great bloke, very very down to earth. I'd always thought he was a wanker on TV, but turns out he's a good fella.

This isn't from my personal experiance, but my mum learnt to drive on the Philip Island racetrack, as my grandpa worked on Len Lukey's house (on the race track), they were good mates, ...
for those of you who didn't know, Len Lukey started the performance exhausts (when he was a kid in his backyard), now their caleld Lukey exhausts...and Len also owned philip island racetrack....

ABS = spongy brakes, but you'll slow to about 60

non-ABS = lock up at 100 & skid past the roo doing about 95. But you'll look sick doing it

the coon lives in newport? cool, as do I. Yeah his missus is way to hot for that douche lol.
I was at Calder Park doing a valuation of some of Bob Janes assets, well the ones that are part of AMC, I work for an auction and valuation company.
He didn't actually know where most of the stuff was, but I don't mind got to drive around the raceway for about an hr, nice little bludge

Well through my dad being a racing driver(60-80)and team manger from 80-mid 90's ive sort of got to know many of the guys involved with car racing .
I was taken for a drive around phillip island by sir jack brabham and stirling moss .
I grew up with The richards family. They owned a holiday house next to ours in Paynesville . Steven actually met his wife up there.
I was also lucky enough to spend a half a day hanging with DAvid Coulthard in 96.(dad was cams pit inspector for team).

Well other than that im friends with Andrew Bogut. (nba basketballer) I grew up playing with him and also his grandparents and my parents go walking most days in the week,

:clapping: :amen:

I met Ross and Jimmy Stone, James Courtney, Glenn Seton, Russell Ingall and Natalie Lowndes a couple of years ago. I swear I've seen John Bowe on my train, twice, but I didn't say anything coz I thought "Can't be him. WTF would he be doing on public transport this early in the morning...?"
