Just keep going to the wereckers, sometimes cars pop up with exhausts, extractors, king springs etc. Look on ebay for bargains too.

AU centre console?
EF/EL mirrors/door handles?
Newer seats?

E series is the epitome of DIY these days.

Could you remove the center muffler for a deeper note or does it drone?

can remove the rear muffler which gives it a bit more sound lol
but getting rid of the centre muffler might be a bit much

getting rid of the first small muffler and the rear one will give it an ok note

give it a go
ive cut out all mufflers (and had a combination) except the middle one.
getting rid of the the rear muffler only will still be quiet at idle and crusing, but when you boot it you get more engine sound (sounds decent with a pod or something)
with the front and rear mufflers gone its just a bit more loud when idling and cruising and a bit more crisp when booting it

its no cat back exhaust, but for the $30 an exhaust shop might charge you i guess its cheaper lol

My el xr6 has a stock exhaust with the rear box removed and it doesnt sound to bad at all, but you will still want a proper exhaust system eventually.
