New guy!

Postby Jukka » July 13th, 2009, 8:37 pm

Hey guys, I'm 17 and I work at a workshop called Falcon Spares & Repairs in Albury, NSW.

Just bought an ED GLi, dark blue/green colour, 4spd auto, 190K on the clock, 2.5 inch exhaust, bit of a stereo, and 5 spoke 16s, they look kinda old.

I'm looking into cheap performance mods, just wondering what you guys have had the best luck with.

I actually decided to look at the site because I saw a car in town with a Boosted Eseries sticker. It was a maroon E series, turbo badge, black intercooler and piping.

Thanks,

John

Welcome to the club mate, gotta love Polynesian Green ED GLi's :P. Don't know if I would call it cheap but a manual conversion is a good and common mod in these cars, will notice a decent change in performance.

Finally, lol! Ive been looking everywhere for the name of the colour. I need by bonnet resprayed, the clear is peeling off.

My boss quoted me about 850 for a good manual box including fitting, but he said if I helped put it in, I could get away with 500ish.

With cams, I was thinking a genuine Tickford cam, but apparently reproduction ones are exactly the same, only cheaper. What have you guys used?

And whats the deal with the chip? How much are they usually?

Thanks heaps guys, already started shopping! Lol

:D

You work at Falcon spares and your asking on here?? lol Why not ask Armins son, he had or still has a fairly quick E-series up there.

Lol! Touche. Yeah, I've asked Amin too, and JC. We just figured it's worth a look on here, just to see what everyone else does.

JC's ED has extractors, cam, exhaust, ported head, and some pretty trick suspension & brake setup, off a stock car I believe. He wants to turn it into a full blown race car, after the rego runs out, lol.

I might actually be buying his engine off him, when he chucks a whopping great Windsor in it. Neither of us know how it's gonna act with an auto behind it though.
