Just had a look at the doors and the metal around the lower hinge is rusted through on the door. Looks like I have to pull them off and weld in new steel to fix.![]()

It turns out XG's have the same fittings for thermofans that late E series radiators have but the end tanks are 10cms closer together so thermos dont bolt up. The water pump pulley is also too close to the rad and EF thermos dont fit unless you cut the threaded section for the fan off.
I got grinder happy to make the fans fit the rad better and the end result was the clutch fan being refitted.![]()
I reckon an E series radiator would fit if I relocate the battery and move the overflow bottle so might give that a go in the near future. My rad is fairly fcked anyway. Some of the fins along the bottom dont exist anymore but its not leaking yet.
