How does one get engine crane wheels to move on grass when they hardly move on perfectly flat, smooth concrete?

You could do it the way Karl has in the past? Undo k-frame with engine attached, then lift car with a tractor, drag car with tractor. Don't forget to detatch tailshaft first or else they bend; badly (or so I was told :D)

Grrr this thread should be moved to the in the build section. :(

Just had a look at the doors and the metal around the lower hinge is rusted through on the door. Looks like I have to pull them off and weld in new steel to fix. :(

Looks like rain. Better put it off til another time :P

might be easier to source new doors, im pretty sure theyre the same as the sedan doors...

but at least its not in a visible spot so the repair dosnt have to be too pretty...

pity your not here, im gonna be wrecking a xf ghia shorty, could have had the doors of that, easy electric windows.

Its not worthy of a build thread yet. Ill wait until I do something decent with it which might not ever happen.

I picked up some thermofans off moonman last night which Ill try putting in tomorrow. I cant wait to get rid of that clutch fan noise.

Re: Dan's new ute.

Tried fitting the thermofans on the weekend.

It turns out XG's have the same fittings for thermofans that late E series radiators have but the end tanks are 10cms closer together so thermos dont bolt up. The water pump pulley is also too close to the rad and EF thermos dont fit unless you cut the threaded section for the fan off.

I got grinder happy to make the fans fit the rad better and the end result was the clutch fan being refitted. :)

I reckon an E series radiator would fit if I relocate the battery and move the overflow bottle so might give that a go in the near future. My rad is fairly fcked anyway. Some of the fins along the bottom dont exist anymore but its not leaking yet.

Nothing wrong with a good clutch fan. If you have a good clutch and clean fan, they make less noise and work better.

Love the sound of a well serviced clutch fan on a hot night.

Agreed, but it's hard to find a good s/h clutch fan these days.

I love the sound of an unserviced clutch fan on a cold morning!

This is true. I always wanted to put thermos in my EA until Sunny suggested finding a good clutch fan. We got one at nick a part one day and it was great! Best maintenance we ever did on that car I reckon

Dan - why wouldn't it fit after mods? You should be able to drill some holes in the shroud and mount it with cable ties if there is nothing left of the sides?

Its hard to describe without pictures but the thermos are a concave shape like ) then there is a flat section on each side which mounts flush against the rad core. The thermos were wider than the core so that flat bit would have sat on the end tanks and looked like crap.

It shouldnt be too hard to mount an E series rad in there then the thermos will fit in all factory like which is better.
