blowing smoke

the EA is blowing smoke when i plant the foot..
and a small puff of black smoke comes out the exhaust after starting the car...
any ideas fellas??

It's running rich when cold.

My EA did this due to a faulty thermostat that was making it run in 'warm up' mode all day. Definitely the first thing to change as a genuine, new dual acting thermostat was (is?) available and cheap from Ford.
