Wheels trims might be overkill I think. Theres not much more old style things you can do, except for a windscreen visor, lol..

Lol! Well I am going for the granpa spec look and I remember way back in 92, my gramps bought a brand new eb2 fairmont with a factory visor. haha

Yeah maybe you are right.
If I can find some trims for next to nothing wouldn't mind seeing how it looks though.

Did you find out if both keys i gave you were for the car or did you just get the one working?
Yeah will probably cost what the car is worth to turbo it properly. ha! Going to look into it next year hopefully.

Oh well! at least you got the one working.
Just a dream at this stage. Nothing to serious, Would like to keep the driveline fairly stock to keep costs down. I'd keep it auto (and a 4speed) so not much more than 200rwkw's.
I also like the idea of having a tough NA motor but would never get the same power and would probably end up costing more to get really get it moving.

Manual would be sweet. I'll do that if the auto breaks soon or I go the NA route
For a turbo setup I'd most probably stay auto.

Got bored so added some more pics

Keeping the whole grandpa style thing going with the whitewalls, venetians, hat on the hat shelf etc.
Just doing it for a bit of fun and i guess the idea is that when it's boosted it will be fairly unassuming.

All great suggestions, especially the floral tissue box cover. lol!
I think the gramps look has got a little out of hand already so as much as I love the ideas I think the RSL and Rotary stickers might not be on the mod list.
Definately keen on some boost when my apprenticeship finishes in January. Can't wait to shock a few skyline and LS1 owners.

Walls are good! still loving them. Although I messed one up not long after I got the car by scraping a gutter. Got it redone straight away as I'd rather have none than patchy fucked ones.

VX Calais dumped on 19/20's look insanely classyhey, though personally Gen3 > L67, just coz i hate having to use PULP and im a sucker for a V8

Yeah the LS motors are definately far superior but there is something cool about a quick six.
A mate had an L67 WH with FIT front mount adaptor, high ratio rockers, small pulley etc and it went really well.
Admittedly it used lots of BP ultimate and never sounded as tough as an 8.

The XR8's look great but definately not old manish like the Ghias

So I got the sticker

champion! haha that looks awesome!

So need to get a few of the other fairmont/lane guys to go grand-pa spec and you could make a club. i reckon a cruise of just grand-pa spec cars would look awesome lol. and of course you'd cruise to a (nice) RSL :P

yeah mate, XR8s definitely cant be done. Waste of time and money, there's really only one route with em and it aint goin old-man spec!

Love the XR's a series 2 EL XR8 would be tops but I'd miss the leather and shit. I'm on my 3rd E series ghia now. Lol!
The cruise would be good fun. Would have to tie the RSL stop off in with bingo night.

Yeah the WH went really well. Made 200rwkw's which obviously an LS1 with next to nothing done to it would beat but it definately smashed a few stock VY SS's and similar.
I guess the near instant torque from the blower is really what got it moving.

i wish i had a series 2 EL XR8. One popped up about 5 mins from my place less than 2 weeks after i bought mine. It had 130K on it, factory manual, and was genuinely owned and driven by an old fella, in immac condition. All for 2 more grand. I blew my top lol so annoyed! My series one will have to do :P

would you realllllllllly miss the leather? surely when summer comes around leather aint so cool. Still looks shit hot, but also ends up shit hot lol

I've been tempted by the Ghias, wouldnt mind a V8 ghia. But i guess optioned up 5L ghias are rare as eh

Spewin! I think its best to never look at carsales (or similar) once you've bought a car. lol

Its more than just the leather I think. I've just always been into the luxo models over the sports ones. Whether it be a Calais over an SS or a G6E turbo over an F6.

The leather is OK in summer, the sheep skin seat covers on the other hand are pretty bad.

I do wish mine was a 5L. There are a few out there, but not like the fairlanes or LTD's where every 2nd one seems to be V8.

Do you have a showroom thread or anything for your car? Looks real neat in your little pic.

They cost about 4 bucks from ebay for two so you could stick one on yours and one on the Stato :) If you get over them, pull them off.

The stato sounds nice by the way.
