Anyone see this? Someone should buy it and fix it up. How do those engines go?

I remember the build thread for this thing on AFF... Looks like the pics don't work anymore though

http://66.226.77.74/showthread.php?t=26877

I don't know about the 1UZ-FE being gutless... They go better than a HO Windsor! :P
They are a great motor to modify... All alloy quad cam, super tough bottom end etc. They respond very well to boost, and sound fantastic!

$2100 seems pretty reasonable considering the work that has gone into it. Half cuts with the 1UZ go for about that much.

Agreed that they have great potential and very strong, just saying that in standard form they're fairly breathless.

Kinda seems like a waste of time if all you're ever going to do is keep it stock, as the above example looks to be.

200kw+ out of a stock 4 litre isnt gutless... plus itl be heaps more reliable, and probably a farkload more economical than either the ford i6 or the windsor 5.0l

gotta remember the soarers and celsiors are luxobarges, they would weigh friggn heaps, esp' compared to a eb.

smart conversion really, plenty of headspace for mods, tons of aftermarket gear, i still wouldnt mind one in my xf, but im leaning more towards a 2jz. just need that lotto win.

Nstg8a, a Aristo half cut can be had for pretty cheap, i not to sure on the exact price but around 3-3.5k.
you need the aristo sump as it sits the same as a falcon, where as a supra sump has the deepest part of the sump at the front, the exhaust exits the head on the drivers side of the motor same as what a 4L does and the fuel comes up the passanger side same as a falcon, i have researched this idea.

I know most people here wont agree with me on this but i personally think that a 1j, 2j or 1uz conversion would be a great conversion for a boxcar, like nstg8a said plenty of aftermarket gear and they are strong as an ox from the factory, i'm pretty sure the 1u has a 6 bolt mains too, as well as a wicked exhaust note to boot. while the 1u's may be fairly thirsty in celsiors those luxo barges weigh damn near 2 tonne, my el with me and a full tank of juice 1700kg, 300kg isn't to be sneezed at.

Now please feel free to tell me its a retarded conversion.

And if someone gave me a viper motor yes i would use that instead. lol

It would be a great conversion, bottom end is as tough as door nails. The 1UZFE is 3969cc all alloy quad cam found in Crown/Lexus/Celsior/Soarer and the odd Japanese domestic Hi Ace ambulance (I kid you not). They have 2mm thick cast iron cylinder sleeves with six bolt main bearing caps and make around 260 horse/200Kw at the flywheel standard form. They have sintered and forged connecting rods plus a forged steel crank, which probably explains why some people have apparently been getting away with revving them to 9000 rpm on stock internals (for a brief time at least!). They generally look like the one below, which is from a LS400/Celsior and a pic of a standard rod. me and the old man are fitting one one in a RA28 Mustang shape Celica. The 2UZ are iron block and 4.7ltr with vvt as 3UZ went back to alloy block and 4.3ltr and vvt. Bottom end is not as tough as the 1UZ...

There were a few similar projects done a few years ago. One involved an NA Fairlane. Pretty good combination despite the effort I always thought; even as stock they are a solid motor. For those who say "why not just buy an LS400" you have to consider overall running costs. You don't see LS400s at Jolly Rogers...

The fuel consumption figures for the 2+ tonne celsior are better than either an i6 or v8 falcon.

I've always thought one of these motors would be the way to go. Being all alloy they only weigh 12kg's more than a Mazda 4 cylinder (BP twin-cam) so there is a benefit in terms of net weight loss (although that may require re-thinking front springs etc?)

I also recall seeing the first start video on one of these forums, either FFAU or FM - of a white EA-D (can't recall if it was a sedan or wagon) with a 1UZ from a guy in QLD - I wonder if this is that car.

Have a mate that has a 1uZ in a BMW E30 coupe. Standard with (obviously) custom exhaust. Sounds so tough, quick, and great fuel economy to boot. It has the best of all worlds! Great engine, always wanted to put one into my VN Calais (yeah... a mang machine)

a few hotroders have used them too. Like EBTO4Z said, they're strong as, and being toyota they've been built properly and bulletproof. Actually, i remember a Black RA-25/28 with a 1UZ and simmons almost a decade ago. was bloody hot

it'd be a cheap way of doing a conversion into a decent Boxcar
