Scum of the world /possible security camera setup?

Postby Hybrid34 » November 11th, 2009, 8:01 am

When I got home yesterday, after half an hr of being home i came back out to my car to find that the Chrome ghia strip (te50,s came with) was badged from my car, leaving a nice chip and scratch where they had pulled it off..fk1in scum...this is the 3rd time one of my cars has been sabotaged...
what i want to know is if any1 or if its possible to setup a camera in my car to record and run, those little spy cameras run off a 9v battery, but my only concern is running the recording device...any suggestions??

Also if any1 is selling theses badges please let me know

ABS = spongy brakes, but you'll slow to about 60

non-ABS = lock up at 100 & skid past the roo doing about 95. But you'll look sick doing it

There are some setups for recording but they are very expensive ,
Our cars at work have them .
I think they are around 2500 for them .

I remember reading about motion-spec cameras that hunters use for deer & shit. Could be used as anti-theft (or at least theft surveillance) on your cars? Maybe look up on ebay?

maybe try jaycar, silicone chip, or dick smith electronics for the kits and speak to one of them on how to go about recording to tape.
otherwise if its parked in your driveway where its getting tampered with then you could even put a small one on the exterior of your house so can do the front of your house and car when its parked there.

Setting up a camera isn't likely to do any good anyway, you might get footage of it being done but identifying the offenders will be the hard part. Having said that though at least you will have something to hand to the Police when you report what happened. Try http://ozspy.com.au/ for the sort of gear you are after.

A gps tracker might be a good idea considering your car gets lots of unwanted attention. At least you will be able to find the car if it ever gets stolen....unless it gets flamed.

I picked up a pretty nice cheapo hd video camera that records to sd card for 60 bucks for kmart a week ago, inside a tissue box or something?
You can also buy sd card digital video recorder setups that come with wireless cameras for around 200 that would run off low voltage i've seen them at mitre 10 and they used to be at dick smith.
The best you could do with a photo of them tho is stick it on here unless there just kids wrecking all the cars down your street.

I had a similar problem and set up 2 infrared cameras which are on 24/7 outside.

You can find on ebay day/night infrared cameras, they auto adjust to the light levels, once it goes dark they work in black and white and illuminate the field view with invisible to the human eye light.

For recording you can also find a basic 4 channel capture cards that slot into a PCI slot on an old pc. This will allow recording to the Hard drive and its possible to setup areas on the picture where it will or wont record if motion is detected, even how sensitive you want them.
The area covered, movement sensitivity, frames per second recording, time after movement stopped that it keeps recording and even remote watching from inside of the house on a pc or the other side of the world is possible on most if the pc is connected to a network and internet.

My whole system cost me $80 a camera and $100 for a 16 camera DVR capture card. All i did was run some cables and use an old PC i had lying around.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/4-Channels-CCTV- ... 20ad6a9fb5

A very basic setup, just mount the camera somewhere close enough to get a good look at the face. ;)

Cheers guys for the info,
Godzilla I think ill do something like what you've done, that pc card seems good.
As for recording in my car, Im going to try get one of those cheap spy cameras, hooked up to a 9V battery, then have my little EEE pc laptop under the seat with it hooekd up to a HDD, then i've got a EasyCAM USB thing that allows you to recording input AV..hmm I guess ill see how it goes..
