Hello!!! (Again)

Introduce yourself and your ride.

Hello!!! (Again)

Postby ShanXR » November 8th, 2009, 2:12 pm

Hi All,

After a long leave of absence, I guess you could say I'm back... good to see not too much has changed!

Those of you who cant remember, I own an ED XR6. Heres an older Pic

Image

In late 07 it blew up so I started this thread and put a low km AU XR6 in...

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1872

Well Ive graduated Uni, finally started earning money!!!

Since then it was retired and has barely done any klms. I now drive a 97 EL XR8... Stock as a rock cept Sunroof and decent stereo, love it though as my daily!

And Ive finally made some progress with SHANXR. Its off the road atm, Installed so far is Intercooler, BOV and piping, Oil Line, Manifold, Turbo, Wategate, Dump etc. Its nearly ready for turn key... just gotta relocate Battery and few other things. Unsure what i will do in regards to Fuel, Management & Ignition. Car was on gas so tempted to go Gas Research setup for ease... Time will tell! Please excuse the dirtyness... it hasnt been cleaned/driven for 12months :P

Anyways thought id say Hi and post an update! Hope to be on a cruise real soon... preferably in Shanxr!

Cheers, Shannon.

dont sell your FR17s for 18's. they're the same centre, just get your FR17's re-made into FR18s. They'll use your centre and just use bigger outers. FR19's have a different (bigger) centre, whilst the 17 & 18's share the same centre. Throw in the fact they're now rare as OR super expensive, i wouldnt be selling yours for another set (unless you could get FR19s)

anyyyyyyyways, nice car! also, got an pics of the daily XR8?

yep, the inner and outer change depending on size, the centres dont. Same centre is shared between FR17 & FR18. So you get an extra inch of polished Outer (and inner) when going to 18's. Sorry if my previous post was typed otherwise

Hey Guys,

There has been some recent developments. Car is still in the shop and is progressing nicely. All cooler piping is hooked up, exhaust is done, oil lines etc Battery is currently being relocated and then its nearly time to start it up!

I ended up deciding to go Fuel after discussions with Paul from CVE. Ive got a Bosch 023 pump going in, 12:1 FMU, EL ECU and will get it tuned with a j3. Will go aftermarket ECU one day but for the moment I just want to get it running. Will remove all related gas equip too.

In relation to wheels, Ive decided to retire the FR17s from daily use (interesting talks about the centres, where could i get the outers to make these FR18s????) So ive bought some 19s for it. BF F6 MkII Typhoon wheels - They arrive on Tuesday. Cannot Wait!

I also got a spare Sprint front lip, Brand new in Poly Green to be fitted if it will fit without too much cutting.

Enjoy :) Its still filthy i know, but it'll get there!

If you're interested in changing your 17s to 18s call Richard at Retro Wheels for more info on it. They're the official shop who repairs Simmons rims (see http://www.simmonswheel.com.au/). I have no idea on availability of the 18 inch inner and outers, but give him a call and he should at least be able to give you the full story, and you could go from there. He knows his shit, so he'd be the best to call

So to see pics of your car i really should just look at my own EL :P nice haha

Yehh spot on Brad, its exactly the same! :P Thanks for the info... I'll definitely chase that up and make a call this week. That will really top it off, they do look good but with the emergence of all these larger wheels nowadays they certainly look a little small. :|
