VicRoads help

Postby LTDHO » February 1st, 2010, 11:50 am

Hey all,

Does anyone know if it's possible for a car to get registered on your behalf by someone else, if you are not a car trader?

I have no time to get to VicRoads but need to register a car in my name.
Transfer form is completed and I have RWC and receipt of purchase.

Cheers

Yep, I've done it before.

From memory, you just need to write a letter of authority.

you need to provide a letter of authority with both your details and the person who is registering you your car's details

you also need to provide you drivers licence a photocopy is no longer acceptable

this is all current as i did this last week....thursday to be exact

basic letter

I bill blogs of 22 boosted street, boost city, licence number 92939495 authorise sam smiff of 50 slow street windsor city licence number19951996 to register my 1993 ford fairmont sedan on my behalf

vehicle details
old rego 5SLOW
vin number 6FPAAAJGWANK199350
engine number JGWANK199350

BILL BLOGGS

this will be enough for them to rego the car on your behalf
aslong as you provide them with
your original drivers licence the RWC and the application to rego a motor vehicle...

including filling out the bottom left corner with the agent/authorised person to register on your behalf bit

you will breeze thru it

If the car is currently registered and you are doing a transfer, you don't need a letter. You just need a roady and a completed transfer form.

Letter of authority is needed for initial registrations with inspections or interstate changeovers.

Wayne just hand your old man the Transfer form and the RWC, that's all he needs.

Snyper if you don't know what you are talking about or you "think" something, refrain from posting as it only leads to confusion. Especially when you do it in caps.

Yeah, you can still do that.

Stamp duty is 4% (calculated as $8 in every $200 or part there-of) + $32.10 transfer fee.
