EL Fairmont 1996 Advice needed!

Postby kaynr21 » February 6th, 2010, 11:37 pm

Hi guys, after much thought i decided to purchase a Ford.. being my first car at 19.. a 1996 EL Fairmont with 151,000 kms completely stock, clean and in really good condition. Im planning to do some minor work to it until im off my P's;

Firstly - set of rims (not sure which... want to spend under 2k if possible, thinking of BA GT's/typhoons which ive heard are out of my price range or au xr6/xr8 wheels) need help on deciding this one!
- lowering; Set of kings springs, i want to go low but not illegal low! What would the price range be?
- And then.. extractors + full exhaust not sure which order to do them in.. and which type to get..

I apologise in advance if this post seems too basic.. it is my first post hooray!!! :D
thanks guys.

BA / BF wheels - you can get copies in E-series offset (so they bolt strait on to your car without hub adapters) cost one of my mates about $1400 from a tyre & wheel shop, with tyres.

I can't really help you with the rest, except that most people get a cat-back exhaust first... then get a set of 'pace maker extractors' fitted.

probably a good idea to tell us which state and town you live in.

Getting lowered springs can be cheap or expensive depending on if you do it yourself or get a workshop to do it.

Id spend a little more and get some new shocks fitted at the same time. But thats the danger with replacing stuff, its hard to stop.

Im currently living in Victoria( could anyone reccomend a shop ) and yes i think copies would be the best option for my budget at this stage. What exhaust/extractor setup would you guys reccomend for a nice grunty note? and how low looks decent yet not illegal?

thanks for the reply so far guys been very helpful :-)
