The man has a point, I'd think seriously about this... back in the early '80s, I'd bet every man and his dog was parting out GTHOs and fitting parts to Falcon 500s, but who is laughing today? Chances are the repaired car could be worth some serious money in coming decades.

I'm doubting it, those GTHO's had a racing history i'm not sure if this thing will ever be in the same league as some of those cars.

I'll still have a think about it, might try work something out with the panel beater.

And Justin it's over 15 years old, so doesn't need a VIV, that's one of the main reasons I wanted to get it!

Wow, hit in the rear in BoxHill.

My guess it was an Asian driver who whacked it. :banghead:

$3k seems reasonable.
can you do some of the work yourself to knock the price down?

I rang him up again earlier, he's going to get back to me with a proper quote, so I won't start parting it out just yet! Hopefully we can work something out.

But even with the combined costs of the repairs and buying the wreck, isn't it still cheaper than buying a good one?

Indeed, try finding a good one.

I am not saying it will ever be in the same league as GTHOs, but even if it ends up with a tiny percentage of their value in the longer-term future (3-5%?) that is still very decent money, and amply worth fixing at this time. A shame that only the hardcore enthusiasts appreciate that the XR8 Sprint was a far more convincing successor to the X-Series Falcon GTs.
