I haven't really updated this in a while because not a lot has really happened. Basically late last year I hit the big 300,000km mark
Image

A few random pics of my car along the Licola-Jamieson Rd. Shortly after I got lost

How the EA will look in 2 years time:
Image

Basically I've done 2 mods since the last update. Firstly I got sick of the bright white indicator, dark headlight combo so modded the indicators for a darker appearance. It was a bit of a failed mod as I cracked both lenses so I'll heat up another set and hopefully the lens' seperate a bit nicer! The second mod is I managed to score a silver EB bonnet after Kev spotted one on ebay. The condition's about 50x better than the previous EA bonnet and I reckon it gives it a sleeker appearance. I also got a pair of superlow front springs but I haven't gotten around to fitting them yet, so the front ride height still looks crap

A few pics that Allen took of mine and his cars:

Cheers everyone.

The BBM is on my current list of planned mods... as well as re-lowering it. I'm aiming to have the front superlows in before AFD, and Dylan, just no :P

haha. I'll only consider ultras when I retire it from daily duties (and then I'll probably go a bit more wild and put bags under it). Supers should do me fine for now :)

Thanks for that Allen. I must admit I did get wheelspin a few times along that road but the corrugations were pretty off-putting

Hey Dezza

Front indicators look the goods. They are a pain to get apart in one piece, but you will get there.

Hurry up and put the S/Low springs in. You will be much happier once that is done.

Thanks fellas. Kev, I couldn't be happier with the bonnet. That was a good find so thanks mate. Pete and Ben, yeah, I reckon the indicators have potential. They just need non-cracked lenses! As for the superlows they'll go in when I have time. I haven't really had a full weekend at home for about the past month (and knowing me, I'll stuff something up and need the full weekend to swap the springs over!)

A few new photos of the car at All Ford Day. We did relower the front and while it came down a bit, we'll try to get it lower again. I also modded a 2nd set of indicators. This time they are genuine XR so they have parkers in them. This time I didn't crack them but somehow got moisture in them when I washed the car which explains why they're slightly fogged up. They look good now though and are a lot better than the first attempt. There are also some big changes coming in the next week or two so stay tuned for new updates

The EA is looking Fabulous!!!!

My indicators also fog up. I already had drilled a small 3mm hole in the bottom to allow any water to drain out.

Good to know I'm not the only one! The old ones were even worse, so I made sure I went nuts with the sicaflex sealing up every possible place it could leak... and it still fogs up! Go figure

Basically since my superlows turned out to be lows, these are lows minus half a coil
Despite this, they feel pretty much the same as they did before, so we haven't stuffed them

Well, big news. At 307,580km, the 3.9 litre was retired. To say it was leaking a lot of oil is a major understatement, and with a broken timing chain guide, it sounded like it was going to explode. So I booked it into Kev's, and him and Bomber put in a fresher EL motor with about half the kms. At the same time they replaced a gearbox seal, an engine mount, and put BBM on. With the difficult weather they did well to get it back on the road, and it feels fantastic.

The old 3.9. We're going to remove the serp gear off it then the engine will be scrapped
Image

The new 4.0 litre, with the rocker cover off the old engine. It needs a clean and we'll put new leads on during the week but it's a nice change

ill bet its a nice change over the EA motor, i noticed you had a nice pool of oil in the intake :) lol

Has a bit more power, and there was oil everywhere! I took the airbox off a few weeks ago and drove around with no intake! So who knows how much crap it sucked into the old engine

i noticed when changing from my EB engine to EF that it didnt really have loads more power, but it just revved alot cleaner and was a much smoother engine.
you would have picked up a bit or torque n shit down low from the BBM also, so id imagine it would be a bit more fun to bang around in lol
but yeah, the old engine was very tired look, looked like it had been painted black inside haha

looking at this pic, have you thought about grabbing a spare panel and painting the surround around the c-pillar cover in colour code silver? seen it done in white and i think it will look great on your car

One thing about the old engine, it did feel like it had more power than most 3.9s. But it certainly wasn't as smooth as the new motor.

I've thought about it. Might paint some up just to see how it looks. If it looks crap, I can always put it back to the black
