Busy Sunday @ Estsyd Kustoms

Postby Sunboost » November 11th, 2007, 9:33 pm

Yo,

Got the boys around today to do some shit we been talking about for ages. Main thing to do was get Gill's front bar and full XR8 body kit painted up and fitted but also on the agenda was getting Rips' front end looking good again after his stack not too long ago, and also paint my bar.

Since Rips needed his car more than all of us, we got stuck in to painting his first after preparing all the other items we had for paint. We spent quite a few hours of the morning getting things right so we could do a good job, and also bought good quality paints and stuff during the week which also helps. Needless to say the hard work payed off, and we got a very good result although we didn't get much of Gill's work done.

We also fitted up a ED XR lip that I bought off ebay about 3 months ago. Looks good!

Was my first time spraying stuff myself, after years of watching Doug make it look so easy I gave it a crack starting with Rips' tiger mica gear. Has 2 layers of base and then a clear coat over it, then I did mine.

Anyways pics;

Yup everything came out fair decent for us first timers, well we've prepped heaps of shit, (long time preppers first time sprayers :P) anyways, fair effort by Sunny I reckon he done a really good job considering it was his first time actually spraying, I wasn't expecting the bars to come out as good as they actually did to be honest.

I just can't wait to get all my shit done now :D

Looks good Sunny time and patience is all it takes.

as most guys say 90% of the job is preparation once done right the rest is easy

by the look of those bits you may also have a knack for it, some people can paint others well......

yep, happy with how it turned out. Big ups to sunny and gill for all their work. top kuntz. Was kinda scared about how the paint would match, and if using the same bar and all wld work ok, but everything went together nicely, cant even tell the panels color and doors color apart..

Mum drives a VS V6 with 18's and a cat back, some douche paid 15k for it a few years ago LOL. She is infact worse then trick_xd spec. I'll get her into an E soon enough, as long as I keep ignoring the oil leaks and telling her it's fine, then hopefully the ecotec implodes. :D Anyways looks sik man, got 1 million k's yet ?

Was all sprayed in my garage.

There's a little dust in everything as you would expect - but then we didn't go out of our way to prevent it. Nothing was wet down or anything like that, just cleaned up everything in the morning blew all the dust out of the garage and waited for it to settle before doing anything.

If we wet down everything probably would have been a touch better.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

Lol Rollin..

My fucking bar dont fit! The lower cooler mounting tabs fould the new skirt. Need to chop a little out. So close yet so far. Looked mint on the car for the 2 seconds it was on.

The rego expires on Friday and my Mum needs to renew the concession (in her name) so that I can get a discount, so it wont be payed in time. I'll pay it next week. Might hv to drop a couple of buckets of water over it to wash the dust off, because I wont be able to take it to the car wash.

Only money in Custom paint work. No point starting a panel beating business these days too much insurance company bullshit.

The way its all heading is "CGU" for example will own a shed with various workshops inside, the person who crashed the car will say i want xx to do it, they will use all CGU supplied materials including paint and booth etc so people stop doing dodgy on insurance and so its done right.

Its like labor these days that insurance companys pay out, it might take 20mins to remove a bar and they pay around $25 an hour, the insurance company will only pay for the 20minutes not the full hour. so if you get an appernice who wants to learn the business owner will loose money cause insurance company sucks.

BTW good work, want some advice, go get some foam walls from and old cool room someone is pullin down, build yourself a semi booth.

Haha yeah I'm not trying to make money - building experience through assisting others .... for cash ;)

The bar's on now. One of the screws I used to mount the lip was smashing it to the the cold side cooler pipe. Put a shorter screw in and it went straight on. Mounted the number plate too.

Was going to put TUFPAK's battery in last night and go wash it before the rego expires today but had to go gym and then CBF... I'll try wash it home over the w.end and get some pics up. Looks complete now.

The only contact I had was with you, the only bargaining I did was with you, and I only organised everything with you. But I know for next time so no damage done.

Relax, it wasn't personally directed towards you. I've just had my fair share of shit kickers like a lot of people.
