cruise achieves nothing, big gathering of 'hotted up' cars will look really great right now, regardless of intentions.

write a letter denouncing it on behalf of the 'club', get it published in major papers if you really want to make yourself feel better.

my opinion on how to fix all this is to calm shit down, start spending money on legitimate events.

money is the deciding factor, why do you think easternats isn't going ahead.

A boosted organised event inviting other clubs could be a good idea. I know its hard to organise events, but even a Boosted hosted show and shine/cruise for charity would help public opinon. Invite other clubs etc, with a "Don't be a dickhead rule".

Any entrents will be required to suply proof of i.d. and rego, so if any unrully behaviour is displayed a name and shame can be performed if a participant is involved, hopfully people attending are intelligent, and the rego and i.d is used to proove that any un lawful activities were caused by "gate crashers"

Once you start doing 'big' events, you really need to go through the proper channels to make it work, otherwise you end up with a big mess and a bunch of headache's during and after.

This is why VSS doesn't run events anymore.

Car clubs do charity cruises every year, multiple in different states.
but they arn't controversial so don't get media attention.

Why a cruise? A cruise gives people the urge to do something stupid in their cars. if you want to do something, a show and shine in a park somewhere? invite the local police down, show them that your on their side etc etc. park em up, let em sit there, that way they cant do stupid shit in their cars

Years ago, mid 80's Elwood car park was the meeting point.

At 2am Friday nights it was burnout comp time, large crowds would gather, no fights, everyone got along and just laid rubber, no traffic islands, no gates locked at night.

One day a partol car rolled up to break things up, after the car was surrounded by 200 people the coppers started calling for backup.

They couldnt move forward or back, couldnt get out, the car was surrounded, within minutes the car was on its roof with the police officers inside.

The following weeks, the car park was blocked off while everyone was inside, everyone copped defects and anything else that could be slapped on.

From that time on even industrial sites where car lovers met for runs, they would block off the area and just go though everyone with defects.

The problem is today as a spectator you can also be fined, your only chance is to run and jump fences.

What happened is nothing new, it just more exposed to the media to help make more news.

Yep, Princes was pretty Farked after the Nobel riots and when the hoon laws were introduced now it will be worse.

As usual it will never totally die, Princes Hwy was been running from before my time (Early 80,s) and here we are 30 years later in 2010 and its still running.

TWO men have handed themselves in to Frankston police in connection with Friday night's riot by motor racing fans after a Melbourne drag race event was cancelled.

Police say the men presented themselves at the police station at 9.30am (AEDT) today and were now helping police with their inquiries.

Yesterday, 21-year-old Narre Warren man, Maxwell Brett Lawson, also presented himself to local police.

He was charged with one count each of riotous behaviour, affray and criminal damage.

Protesters turned to random violence at what was meant to be a peaceful rally in Oakleigh after the EasterNats race meeting at Calder Park Raceway was cancelled.

The crowds on Friday night vented their anger on one of the event's sponsors, causing $50,000 worth of damage to the Bob Jane T-mart store in Oakleigh, in Melbourne's southeast.
