Perth Storm, March 22nd

Postby IgorEA » March 22nd, 2010, 11:07 pm

Hey all, had news of a storm coming in didn't take it too seriously but was the worst ive ever seen since living in Austrlia. The house received minor flooding after part of the sun roof fell in, this created a fantastic waterfall of the stairs. I had 2 cars ungaraged outside, a Festiva and a Capri. The Festiva took quite a beating while the Capri got it worse. Hale managed to puncture holes into the roof and started to flood the car, had the EA in the garage but its completely rooted anyways and that took a few angled hits for panel damage too. Me and neighbours had to work hard to stop our driveway from flooding as were on a downhill from the main road and the drains managed to get jammed. Anyways heres a few pics, mobile phone but none the less still pictures :P.

Capri Roof Damage

This is what I found in the car a few minutes after it died down, 50 cent peice to show size.

Festivas roof and bonnet both took a flogging, Theres alot more then you can see in this picture.

Quite a mess here, had the buckets out while I worked out a solution. During the war our house took some small arms fire/small shell hits, to patch up the roof for the winter we would use plastic sheet held down by stones and if you were lucky and it was the snipers day off we could smuggle aluminium sheet up there. This is basic plastic sheet with a few rocks to anchor it down until we can get it repaired.

Where the water was coming from, covered. About 50cm in diameter.

Other then that everyone in this household seems ok, almost copped a few of those hail hits on the way home, took a bit of the little ones but was under cover before the big stuff fell.

Hectic!

I think ill go and clear the garage so I can hide my cars if I hear of a storm, But I have double garage and 3 cars :?

Most of my family and friends have flooded houses.

Alot of people on the WA car forums have had cars damaged and written off by the massive hail.

here are a couple of images posted up from a major wa car forum

Was just chatting to my bro, he works around the corner from Barbagallo's, apparently they moved alot of their exotics into another warehouse to be safe, and the roof fell in on them. :blackeye:

Haha, as for the worlds end in 2012 I doubt it will happen then. But sometime soon, it is very real. The magnetic poles of the earth swap around every few thousand years, were due. The earthquake in Chile caused an extra 3 degree deviation to magnetic south. Crazy weather lately around Aussie tho, dno whats going on haha. We didnt get any follow up storms as predicted so just trying to hold up fort with plastic covers on the roof damage to both house and car, should be rite :).
