I don't know why every V8 owner doesn't get 4.11 gears as one of their first mods!
Just my EF XR8 with the 185Kw AU 5Ltr + 4.11's= Traffic Light Master!
Can't imagine how much better a LS1 would be off the line with 4.11's.

erm an auto ur kidding me.. first of all in an ls1 to have 4.11 gears u need an older style diff.. on top of that they come with 3.07 from factory for them to have mega high gears is stupid because they have a decent short first gear, its almost too much for them to have 3.9s let alone 4.11s which have to be housed in a weaker vn-vs diff... the cars are set up very different to an ef 5litre... im sure a manual ls1 would go decent with high gears with having the tall 6th gear

BTR is 2.39:1

3.06, wow, that's short, that's shorter than a V8 T5 1st gear isn't it? (2.95:1 I think they are?)

I can see why anything shorter than 3.7s would be a waste of time

Yea im still tossing up between 3.7s and 3.46s all the 3.7 hsv diffs i see are around 1k but the 3.46s diffs come in all manual ss so they seem to sell very cheap around 500 bucks so im leaning towards just getting the cheaper diff its a fairly big jump as it is.. what gears does yours have?

3.73, I got mine from KUMBAK wreckers for $880 fully rebuilt and the have a few more. if i kick back to second at about 80kmh it will chirp, 3.73 was standard for HSV's with 6 speed manual and GTS's got 3.91. now that i think about it i should have gone for 3.91.

4.11 isn't too far a jump from 3.91 though :D

Wats yours like on the freeway and all that im not a softy when it comes to gears i had 3.7s in my el.. but it just seems from the revs they do at 110 and all that that it would be mega loud with 3.9s i reackon you should just stick with 3.7s.. enough with the 4.11s they dont fit why waste all the time trying to get 4.11s in when u can get a mail order tune for a couple of hundred bucks and get way better performance then dirty 4.11s

I could see how it would be a problem with a droney exhaust. Mine (BTR + 4.11s) does 2250rpm@100kph & 2500rpm@110kph, however it's nice & quiet though.
