Post pics of your rides here

Postby LUXO_8 » April 27th, 2010, 7:42 pm

lol, it rides like its got ultras...haha
ive got short bilsteins in it, and its ok......gotta be really careful over bumps and driveways and stuff because of the overhang..
the towbar brace bar scrapes a lot entering and exiting driveways and stuff..............but it looks mint and i wouldnt have it any other way...=D

airbags would be good to be able to lift it for big driveways but i can live with it how it is for how much it costs to do

you will need to get short front struts - or the pedders ones with the lower spring seat

lol rides like its got ultra's... i like that...

today i went into repco and ordered myself some king spring super super lows and strutts. should be in tomorro then its a matter of finding time to fit them... should look good but depending on the ride and the attention from mr plod, they may be for sale again soon lol

also, the other day i got my pin stripes re-done coz they were absolutely fucked. cost 50 bucks which i thought was alright and made it look a hell of a lot better and the dude came to my work and did them in the car park. thought that was pretty cool too.

i was looking in my boot before and saw this:

Image

is there anything simple i can do to hide the wiring and gas tank and what the hell do i do with the sub to keep it out of the way a bit?
does any one know of a thread that has a nice simple boot install with gas tank and sub?

any help would be appreciated. cheers - jarrod

get a piece of fabric and cover the outside of the tank, or make a panel to cover it.

as for the sub, move it to the side. maybe chock it up with a block of wood and have it tucked as far to the drivers side as possible

what do these go like with the stock 5.0 in them? ive been eyeing one up on ebay, seems a cheap way of getting into a v8

im guessing theyre not really any quicker than the 4.0?

a little slower then the 4.0 IMO. well a AU lane with VCT will pull away from a NC with a 5.0. but you just cant go past the sound.

throw a bot of cash into a 5.0 and it will go pretty good

yeah, its no rocket. i'd say its would go about the same as a tickford 4ltr the same age. but yeah, the sound is why i got it. oh and the fact it was a rocket compared to the old xf.
go have a drive of one, u wont exactly be impressed but they are pretty good i reckon.

yeah i might just do that, cheers.

fuel economy much worse than a 4.0?

will be an interesting comparison, i looked at a ef with a ticky 4.0 in it today so easy comparison.

ummm... i always run mine on gas and the trip computer says im averaging about 14 or 15 L per 100km's. thats usually drvin to work n back which is up n down hills and around town a bit. it does better than that on petrol but. i'm sure some one on here will tell ya how they go on petrol all the time.
i dont really give my car much tho so yeah. drive a bit like a nanna. open her up on petrol some times tho.

on the highway a V8 is better on fuel then the I6, but around town it reverses. strikers V8 NC got 7-750k's per tank, my NC I6 got 600-650 max

my paint isnt that great so i just tapped them up with a hammer...seemed to work ok and i havent noticed any cracks in the paint, but i wouldnt do it on your car as it looks like the paint is nice and the risk of cracking the paint is too great

id try a wheel and tyre joint, they should be able to do it

i did initially, but i took note of where it was grabbing and tapped that area in more.. ive got about 5 mm clearance so i guess it could hit if the suspension was loaded through a corner and hit a big bump, but generally no, i dont really have any issues with it now

yeah. im real happy with the way it looks. went lower than i thought. once i get the petrol and gas tank full of juice and springs settle a little more (if they do) it will go lower again. it rides better than i thought too, my only problem at this stage is the guards rubbing. which i hope to sort out tomorro.
i hope i dont get too much attention from the fuzz too. just a little over a month til im off my P's.

well... today i went to panel beaters and they wanted to charge me 130 to do each guard so thought **** that so i asked the nice chap how he would do it and went home and had a crack.
i grabbed the hammer and a rag and slowly hacked away at it... pretty much finished the one the has been grabbing more but still not completely happy. took it for a drive and didnt grab but will finish that one off tomorro and do the other one.
i couldnt tell if i cracked any paint but took out a couple of tiny chunks on the inside of the fuard so i'll touch them up and will all be good.

yeah, spoke to a few different people today and seemed like the best way to do it. better than putting a bar up there and driving forward (or back) i thought.
plus the panel beater said that if he was doing it he waould just use the hammer and tap away with it then touch up anything that may go wrong. i figured "i could do that!"
