TUFED6 runs a 10.8?

Postby oneredED » November 23rd, 2007, 10:22 pm

Went to Calder tonight for the off street drags, and saw TUFED6 having a decent crack. I only caught a glimpse of the scoreboard, but I swear I saw a 10.84 or something pop up on there. Anyone able to confirm this?

I can confirm, decided last minute to go have a play, and was going well right before I cracked a piston! :D Only got 4 runs in and ran a couple of 10.8's or something. Crap night.

Cracked a piston??? I didn't see that run :(

Congrats on the 10 anyways mate, it looked like it was hauling arse down the far end of the quarter on most runs. Is that a PB? The launch on (i think it was) your third run was tough as too, I think it lifted a wheel haha 8-)

There was a 33 GTR (the darker one) gunning for a high 9 but only made low 10's, and another in mid 11's. The Protek Supra looked plagued by issues with the antilag not quite building enough boost with the twins setup on the line, and was in the 10's as well I think.

10.8 for a cracked piston? sounds like a reasonable tradeoff!

I had the same problem all 4 runs, kept blowing past the converter and bouncing off the rev limiter in top gear- something to talk to Mr Keas about.

Anyway, seem to have hurt a piston or ring. Now I have a reason to build a tough-as forged bottom end! I gave this one a hiding for 2 years and it held up- no shame in it. Always knew this was coming.

It gets off the line well tho, does 1.5sec 60's easy. I've got some video that I'll put on youtube later.

OMG you are a kent for not telling everyone you were going. :(

Seriously.

Good work though, that's almost as quick as my Mountain bike... Almost. 8-)

Does 10's mean you need to fit a cage ? That would be gay if you do.

Great work Iain. Pitty it was running off song for you but it was great to see it run down the track nice and straight and show there's plenty of potential there. You'd have to be happy running into the tens on any cars second pass. Congrats mate, now post up the vids or get them on youtube.

Congrats Iain, it was great to see the car run. Perserverance was well worth the wait in my opinion.
I think that its a pretty good effort for the first time out.
Can't wait to do this good bottom end and have some fun.
I will upload my video soon.

saw it tonight too was nice and quick at the end of the track but seemed much slower at the start than some of the other cars. also very sleeper as it was so quiet when it was revving etc compared to the other cars running similar times.

Iain ran consisten 1.5-1.6 60ft times, the reason it doesnt 'look' fast off the line is because it doesnt lift the front wheel due to the suspension still being relatively stiff. Iain will be able to tell you more. The tow truck came over because the battery went flat, just needed a jump thats all.

What doesn't sound right ?

202kph = 125.59 mph. Which is pretty much spot on for 10.8 in a heavy arse Falcon.

Don't get on the defensive side. Even at 125mph the figure looks down for a car with that much HP I would expect around 130mph++.

Haha it's all good mate, I'm not getting on the defensive, I thought 125 mph was about right for a high 10, as for the horsepower see post number 5. :)

Slipping converter would be a reason the MPH is not as high as you would 'expect'...

TUFED - fucken great work man :) It's a pity the bottom end didn't hang on, but at least it didn't let go in a big way and bugger the head!
