stock tickford ed xr6 cam or wade 1604 cam

Postby iCER » June 8th, 2010, 10:18 am

So i got a new motor in the ED and im about to organise a J3 chip for the new EL ecu.
I have the wade cam from my old motor still.

Am i better of sticking with the stock ed xr6 cam or better of with the wade cam as the J3 chip will utilize it more for more power.

defiantly wade cam, xr cams are only marginally better than stock cams anyway. Although the 1604 is a very mild cam I would still expect it to out perform an xr cam.

Also I think there a better gains to be had with a j3 if your cam is bigger.

well i got a cam simillar to the 1604 and it is a good cam. the guy i bought it off ran a 15.5 with a manual and no other mods so it does have some go. if you have an auto id recommend a 3000rpm stall to really get it moving. If not they are real nice to tow with with a stock auto. Good mileige to.
Currently off the road getting a new motor put together, complete with bigger cam, portted head, over sized valves, manual convertion with lightened fly and aftermarket computer. Should have a bit of poke.
