Was the housing less axles. I did check it myself, stuck a finder in each end and had someone spin it, the both spun the same way. What I should have done was take it to a diff place and have them open it up. I just got excited when I called this place and they gave me a good deal.
I did have it coming, I always do.

I don't have a LSD of any sort at all anyway, so nothing to offer. I won't be getting one either. I'm over this car now. Time for some more debt, BF XR6T's with 6 speed auto can be had for under $20k it seems!!

Diff swaps really just a bolt in jobbie, theres not much you can stuff up! 2 sets of hands and a trolley jack make light work out of a swap.
Sucks that you really spent money on nothing there though, (another?) tough break.

Postby ClassicAU » June 26th, 2010, 11:40 am

USA trip is already happening, I leave on Thursday morning. Anything else car related will be dealt with when I come back. Although I did get left with one more task before I go, seeing as which ever monkey at the diff joint moved my car went ahead and reefed up my handbrake to the point that it is no longer functional!! So at some point this weekend I get to crawl back under the bastard and attempt to tighten it up. Must be done, as my driveway is on a fairly steep incline, and I would prefer not to leave it sitting in reverse.

Justin, yes I did mate. Didn't really have much of a choice, as they had already pulled both bloody diffs apart when the gave me the good news. So I now have a nice and tight single pegger! :banghead:

Anyway, there will be no mind changing, this car will not be modded again. I never really intended to, but thought I could get away with a couple of little things. No such thing, not with me anyway. Yes, a loan is massive fail, but whatever, its only money. If I can find another AU2/3 XR8, that is what I want. The auto one I had was cool, so a manual one would be awesome! They are getting rare though. So if not I'll look at ZF turbos. I'm over the Boss, they are pox and too expensive to do up, and LS2's are more than I want to spend.

Sunny, you do what you like mate. If I am pissin you blokes off too much, then so be it.

debt for a car is a definite fail, but sometimes its the only way to get a decent car for some of us...

personally, if i was gonna go into debt on an au, then it would have to be a t series, theyre the only au's that have any real hope of holding their value long term.

a nice t3... no fail there... me, id go the p250...

ev, even if you get a nice T2 with the 220 engine, it'd be nice...
also, you could lay low a bit and not cause too much attention..
I'd go have a look at this one mate..
it's had a few subtle changes, but still looks great..
20K is too much, i'd offer around the 17,500 mark..

A T2 would still be cool, but I just dont know about an auto though. Yes the ZF would be awesome in a turbo, but if I got a V8 I think a part of me would regret not getting a manual. I had an auto XR8, and it was fun and all, but I have never had a manual V8.
As for that particular one, its been butchered. Putting the T3 bar and removing the wing just makes it look buck toothed. Those seats are damn friggin nice though!!

i think it looks ok...

a manual would be awesome and seeing as though you've had an auto 8 you're probably better off getting a manual i guess..

if you do buy a T for the love of god Leave it STOCK!!!!!!!

hahaha, I wouldn't touch it mate, trust me. I wouldn't bloody need to!

Anyways, they are still pretty bloody expensive. For the money, I am really starting to like a BF Turbo. The ZF is a sweet auto, and apparently works better with the turbo motor than a T56? I think I should drive one to see.

i drove a ZF typhoon and it was awesome.. so much better than the manual...
i'd imagine an XR would be almost identical with a touch less power...

guess you just need to make up your mind on what you really want...!

This is T2 TS50, build 22, Factory Alloy heads, Pacies, Twin system. It's mint, barely driven (done 15000k's in 3 years). Has a stereo, looks stock, sounds fairly tough. Ran a 14.5@100mph with a single 2.5" zorst. Also has an Edelbrock Performer RPM2 manifold. DO IT!

Desire isn't driven by the heart, the mind or the wallet. Desire comes from another place. It's created by the smell of burnt fuel under full throttle and the look a car gives you when you're washing it alone at night...

NEIN!!! It's been molested by that fat idiot Herrod!! I have a hate on for that tool after he destroyed my old man's AU Ghia. Plus, uni chips suck, sif use that when you can get a flash tune. That, and its a BTR. Nice looking car, dont get me wrong. Just not for me, would rather an untouched example.

Nope, I want to drive a ZF turbo now, before I decide what to look for. Won't happen till next month when I get back from the states though.
