Hi there! New to forum. XR8 Options

G'day people, I've been trawling through some build threads for the last few days and gotten some great ideas. I've got an Au2 XR8 ute that I'm looking to put some boost into. I've been toying in my head about which option to go.

Option 1 - Single turbo. I've got a bigish turbo about the same size as a XR6T's and I've also got a 500x400x90mm intercooler. So why not put it on the XR8?? After looking into this a bit more, the aircon pump and lines are in the way on the passengers side and the alternator and battery on the drivers. Also the brake lines would be very close to where the turbo would sit. I've been looking for someone that's done this on an AU and haven't found one single photo. Surely someones done it before?!?! Anyway list of additional items I would need are boost controller, external wastegate, Xcal 2 or 3 plus tune, injectors for 6-8psi??, Surge tank and 044 pump, oil lines, home made custom exhaust manifolds (by me). Anything I've missed?

The plan would be to mount turbo where the battery is, relocate battery and have the exhaust from the passenger side go forward under aircon meeting with pipe from driver side near the alternator.

Option 2 - (This may make a few people cringe) A BA/BF XR6T motor swap. Pretty self explanatary really. Pull the Windsor out sell it and put a T motor in it. Haven't really researched this option to much. Would the motor be a straight swap? Will it fit? Has it been done before? What needs to be swapped?

Sorry for the long first post but I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and have more questions than answers.

Thanks!

Turbo the V8.

You've got a few options, some people run the cross over pipe around the back rather then having to worry about the A/C gear.

Altenator shouldn't get in the way, the only real issue is the ABS gear.
