Not normal

Postby EFFalcon » December 6th, 2007, 7:42 am

Was having some issues the last week or so, car was hesitating on boost, backfiring, just feeling average.
figured the plugs probably needed to be changed.

i was right :)

This one is from Cyl 1, compared to the new plug.

This one is from Cyl 2, this is where my car is burning most of its oil!

i can't wait for a new motor!

is that oil past the #2 plug?

all of your engines have oil dramas, not good!

are you using thicker oil to try and stop as much of the blowby as possible? are you running a catch can?

correct Jason... oil in Cyl2, has been since we put it in though.
first one had no oil dramas till i overheated the oil :P
using thick oil but its not helping much, catch can is there but again, not helping much :P

mine backfires a few times a week... fairly big ones too.
the other day when it was raining i was sideways and it backfired, all i could see was a spray of water out the edge of the bonnet where the BOV is.
it may not be too fast, but its been pretty reliable.
even with near no oil pressure! :P

I swear thats exactly how my plugs looks after about 2,000kms or less in the EL. Mine haven't lost the electrode yet though. But they get burnt or blacked up.
Oh well, it keeps going strong *touch wood*

Missing electrode is usually severely lean :P

I reckon pre-AU rods are probably much stronger than BA onward. Shorter/lighter & from what I hear better material.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

Yours is black from being richer then bill gates I think Dave.
We'll fix that when we stop the belt from slipping!

And wilson, how much longer does this motor have to last?
Cause I got $20 on you not being able to get it throw a rod.

yeah, backfiring on LPG is usually a lean problem too?

you're running 2 B2s arent you?

let me know if you want to make a retarded spark map for your stock ECU :)

every time my cars backfired its been an ignition issue, not running lean.
since i changed the plugs it hasnt back fired.

i'm not concerned yet, once i replace the motor i'll check mixtures etc again.
then yes.. i might consider a new ECU map for ignition retard.
