Hey guys,
Haven't posted in a while.
I'm the owner of a 94 ED GLI. My pop gave it to me years ago with only 30,000ks on it.
I absolutely love it, it's a fun car to drive...even though my mates give me shit about driving an "old box shape" falcon (most of them drive VS Commodores).Sure, it mightn't be as refined, or handle as good as a VS, but when it comes to performance...the Falcon 6 shits all over that Ecotec V6 Rubbish. I'm sure all of you guys know this already anyway:-P
Hopping in to my mates VS and putting my foot down, the first thing that popped into my mind was "why the hell aren't I being pushed back into my seat".
Anyhow, I've finally finished the HSC, gotten a job, and looking at uni for next year. I have some money to play with, and need a little advice on how to spend it on a car. Unfortunately, I haven't taken care of the old girl...as they say, "what we obtain too cheaply, we esteem to lightly". I was planning on getting something better, so I thrashed it quite a bit. Still drives fine, although the auto is playing up a little.
I've got a soft spot for the ED, and I'm currently looking at getting an ED XR6. About 100,000ks, auto, in immaculate condition.
I'd like to keep it N/A. I'm thinking of going through Jimmy Mock Motorsport, and getting them set me up with their "Dev 5" package.
After this, I plan on getting the gearbox rebuilt...therein lies my question: what should i get done?
I've heard that the E series auto boxes kinda sucked, and I'd like to make it as strong and reliable as possible. I'm not exactly tech-minded when it comes to mechanical stuff, but I know enough.
What can be done to make it stronger, and handle all that extra power?
