I set my car up for Prodigy initially, but it lacked in most other music. Poison is my favourite for depth but. Definitely need a sub for that shit.

I'm all the way with Dead Prez!!

Good album if you are into new metal - Satellite by P.O.D.
There are a couple basslines that can challenge your setup.
Also "Right Now" by Korn gets pretty big...

Strapping Young Lad has some insane bass in some of their songs, like Shitstorm, for example.

I play dubterrain.net through my N8 and run it through the radio transmitter in my car when I want something new.

It won't make the ladies think you are a sick **** but if you're just looking for something to shake the car (when there is nobody else around...) or trying to set the system up then try Pure Shores by All Saints. There are 3 reoccurring base notes in it that used to make my rear-view mirror vibrate down till it was looking at the back seat and the door mirrors go crazy.

Also, mp3s are shithouse at reproducing bass, you really need to get a copy of the songs straight off a CD.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

i think it has something to do with how they are ripped...
some lower quality codec will cut the lower frequencies to make a smaller file.. not what you want when going for bass.
also the smaller file the more the frequencies are compressed

Exactly. And if we can hear it through our comparitively crappy systems it must make a difference in an SPL winner.

If it's just a test tone then it will obviously be recorded at max volume, so it won't make any difference what format it's played off.

Obviously because this thread is about songs which when compressed from a 30 odd meg .wav file to a 3 meg .mp3 DO sound like ass in comparison.

I only notice a difference in trebble with MP3's vs CD's.

Young Jeezy - The Inspiration

The whole album pretty much has a heap of bass.
