So i did it again, my new toy.

Postby slo_sprint » August 13th, 2010, 5:52 pm

Yeah i got bored of working on the Skyline and decided i wanted a ~2000 AMG E55 or 70's Mercedes 300SEL 6.3 and well i bought a '97 JZA80 Supra 6spd, I was going to post pics off the carsales ad since i don't pick it up till Monday but they have been taken down so they'll have to wait till then.

Its pretty sick its only got 70,000kms and its fairly mint, its got the stock body kit and wing with 19" Volk something's with A++ dish and a decent audio setup but thats not really why i bought it. It also has a built 2J with a bombed head and HKS 272 cams, Greddy T88H-38GK Single turbo conversion, Haltech E11V2, big fuel system, Tilton triple plate clutch, stainless 3.5" exhaust etc. etc. etc.

Its previously put down 640rwhp/480rwkw on 18psi so theres plenty of potential for more, its getting run up again on the same dyno on Monday so i'll see what happens and update and post pics and shiz. Should be fun?

Meh, too much overcapitalization and not enough motorvation plus i probably would have put a 2j in it after it blew up again anyways.

It set me back a little more than a stock/mild JZA80 but considering the amount of cash spent on the thing idgaf its mint and i luff it.

If i had the cash for any amg with a 6.3 in it i wouldn't have even given the Supra a 2nd look, none of the mercs i was lookin at are anywhere near the current amg lineup.

It'll turn the tyres in 4th, if it doesn't it'll get more boost till it does.

Time for pics 'n shit i spose,

I didn't end up picking it up till Wednesday night but it was totally worth the wait!

It was run up on the dyno Tuesday night and the first 3 runs it was spinning the tyres on the dyno pretty hard so the boost was dialled down a bit and it was run again, the end result is only 502rwhp but thats more than enough for me to get used to the car since it turns the tyres effortlessly in 3rd and will keep going through 4th with 275's on the back.

Aside from that i don't really know what to say, the thing is just an animal it comes onto boost like someone has flicked a switch at about 5000rpm - 5200rpm and despite breaking traction 95% of the time it picks up speed faaaaaast. I can't wait to get it out to the drags, unfortunately jamboree was this weekend so it'll have to wait till after powercruise.

Anyways powercruise next weekend so vid's/pics of this thing doing what it does best will follow shortly after.

epic!
what boost did you end up running?
also what is the rev limit set at?

T88 is a fair large turbo lol, i'd almost look at swapping it out for a T04z unless you plan on running 25-30 psi, would still do 400-450rwkw no worries

Thanks man, the wheels are killer they're one of the things that drew me to the car. Its currently running about 14-15psi.

Boost is at 14-15psi atm and rev limit is at 8500rpm.

lol you say that like you don't think i plan on upping the boost, this car will see 500rwkw+ plus i've always had a bit of a thing for T88's i love them, the way they come onto boost is just brutal totally different to any other turbo i know of.

Bodykits are for poofs. It looks fine as is!

are those side skirts and rear spoiler both stock? Thats what I meant, looks like its got some sort of kit everywhere except
the front... reckon it'd look killer with a lip spoiler too...

Thanks man, I'm not a fan of kits that aren't factory so the body will stay as is.

That is sick! but fck having 750hp through a chain drive!

It loves the limiter, you just can't keep it away!

Anyways Powercruise was sick and the car luffed it was mad fun letting people get the jump then chopping them once they had a couple of car lengths on me since the car had traction for something different. That being said i had a couple of good runs one being against a BA XR8 ute with a nasty big turbo which ended up being neck and neck and a XR6 Turbo ute, i dunno what kinda turbo it was running but it was running an external gate because the screamer sounded sick! also ended up being neck and neck. Will post vids/pics/whatever as i get some from people.

Also had a couple of runs at Willowbank since its right next to QR and managed a 12.8 @ 121mph, because its a Supra the times aren't going to get much quicker than that but the terminal speed will keep goin up. Depending on work i'll get some 285/35/19 Kumho KU36's fitted up next weekend and run again as is and it should trap an easy 125mph with traction through 2nd and 3rd.

Heres a vid from last night, started on the water in 3rd and hit 4th just as the staging dude waved me on. The rest of the run was shit but, skated 2nd and 3rd and probably ran a 15 at only 116mph.
