End of my era.

Postby Simmo » December 10th, 2007, 8:34 pm

Hello gents, i've been rather sparse on the forums lately, not that you'd notice as i post crap or rarely. but i've got to drop yet another typical "i'm outta e-series" thread on you. I have just parted ways with my 1993 ED XR6 that i bought over 3 years ago as my first car. follow the link in my sig for details on the car, but it started out auto and stock as rock 'cept for a shitty exhaust with a blocked cat. I'm proud to say I think i built the best all-rounder falcon i could have hoped for. respray and the rims for pimpin, 800W and 2 subs for the pumpin, wicked suspension and brakes that would shit on the jap stuff through the corners and a cammed N/A 4L with a exhaust that sounded like hell on earth [127.7db police rules tested]. the sadness is starting to creep in as i've bought a $150 3 cyl, 1L charade as a getaround until i find some nice old skool metal. but im really hoping to find a mk1 escort or something nice from pre 1980 in the land of japan. so thanks for the memories, thanks for the fun, thanks for being crazy arseholes sometimes [love you adam and tim and dan], thanks a ton for the help of all the QLD crew on the beast when i girled out. but thanks really for everything youve taught me both on and off cars and i really think there is a great bunch of lads up here in Brisbane that would do any make and model proud. i will see you guys round.....

Good stuff man, no need to leave the forums or anything though, chuck a build thread up of your next project when you get it!

Bummer :( Your car did look hawt too, I hope it went into good hands!

On another note, you want pre 80s stuff from japan? I have some ideas for you:

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

Escort + SR20DET FTW!

That was my plan for my old Mk2 Panelvan, until I got over it and sold it for $300 :( I so wish I had that car still.

Good luck with the next project!

Apaprently all the crap you can buy for sprinters goes pretty much straight into KE70s...cheaper option than a tofu delivery car - nowhere near as cool but :(

well it looks like this shitter charade is going to be the next project. i was down at daihatsu auto recyclers at archerfield yesterday picking up a cheap headlight and radiator for the little beast and noticed a turbo kit on a stack of wheels. curiosity got the better of me and i called this morning to see what it was for. turns out its for the engine in my car. so i went down and picked it all up.

hows this for a deal...perfect turbo with no play, manifold, braided oil lines, oil filter relocator/cooler, big ARC intercooler, BLITZ bov, dump pipe and all the intercooler pipework and the plenum that bolts to the top of the carby that says 'Charade TURBO'. $600. i couldnt say no and now its in my lounge room. all i need is a bigger fuel pump and to re-jet/replace the carb and its showtime. should be a phat little sleeper for under a grand.

so i'm finally going boosted. questionable application, but boosted none-the-less.

yeh i do have the 'rade. its at the shop getting a RWC and new clutch this week. Dan, sorry you feel disapointed, but opportunity knocked and im a sucker. its not gonna be remotely fast. more like a 16/17 sec quarter. but im not trying to go fast in this, just trying to be a bit different/entertain myself. and you have no idea what pox is until you've driven an NA, 3 cylinder, 1.0L, carburetted motor. im just hoping the turbs will make it feel like a 4 cyl NA of normal capacity.
