My AU XR6 VCT ute soon to be BOOSTED!!

Postby AuXR6Turbo » September 26th, 2010, 5:11 pm

Hey all,

I have recently purchased an AUII XR6 VCT ute and plan on boosting it.

This is how it sits so far:

Engine: AUII VCT, Pacemaker 4490 extractors, SS inductions Cold air intake, K&N PAnel filter.

Driveline: Standard Gearbox, Tailshaft and 3.45:1 LSD. With Exedy Extra heavy duty Clutch (3 months old).

Suspension: Super low king springs front with KYB exel g Adjustable shocks, Reset leaves with 1 inch blocks in the rear.

Wheels: Verde 20inch 5 spoke with 235/35/20 Toyo Proxes all round.

I plan on Producing around 250rwkw from this big girl and I'm hoping you guys can help me out along the way.
I work for a local performance parts shop so anything i need in the way of fuel and ignition systems is all readily available to me.
I was thinking something along the lines of this.

Turbo: Garrett GT35/40r
Fuel system: Standard pump as lift pump for surge tank to Bosch 044. Malpassi 1.7:1 rising rate FPR. Bosch motorsport 550cc injectors.
Ignition: I can't see why the standard ignition system wouldn't be ample. (Some of us have been zapped by these thing...WOW)
Exhaust: Custom Manifold with 50mm Turbosmart wastegate and 3inch system.

I have also read people are having trouble running boost with the vct set-up. So i was thinking of picking up a standard head and having a mate of mine give the
ports a bit of a working over. Can anyone recommend a cam for me??

Hope to hear from you all soon, Matt

That ute sounds sweet. You have to make an account with photobucket, then upload image and copy and paste the image code into your reply. Can't wait to se some pictures.

Ditch the malpassi reg and run an XR6 turbo fuel reg in place of your stock one.

Otherwise it sounds exactly like my setup which should be good enough for 350rwkw provided the engine and gearbox is up to it.

Leave the VCT and see how it goes. I dont think it will affect much.

Extractors aren't really strong enough to hold up a turbo - once the metal gets hot it will just bend like a paperclip.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

I've done skids in this ute.

Plenty of them.

This thing was born to do skids. And from here on they're only getting longer.

p.s. I hope Pearson enjoys his bill :-)

That explains why the spigot bearing was in there on an angle. HAHA!
Good to see the big girl knows what's coming to her.

Doesn't use a drop. Had plenty of leaks, thats all fixed. Got a new front wheel bearing. And I re-aligned the spigot bearing. Poor twat got charged for 2 new tyres that I had fitted and immediately turned to powder outside our workshop. Thats good times indeed ;-)

Oh your so clever.

Watch out for those 20s too, they buckle easily hahaha!

Haha thanks man. We flog the malpassi's cheap. I have a Sard 1:1 sitting next to me at the moment I think should do the trick just nicely.
