ef2 xr8 manual hello

Postby bjautos » November 6th, 2010, 9:33 pm

hi to all , just come a member to this form. it's great to see there's other's that love there car as much as i do. my self i have a ef2 xr8 manual. on my first dyno run it was 132 rwkws making it 176.5 hp , don't no if this any good or not but it gave me a starting point to work from. my air flow ratio was in the 10:1 which i was told to be a low reading. am looking at to make some modification. any ways so far i have fitted a set of mh headers and new sport exhaust system , band new air flow meter , spark plugs ,msd coil , new fuel filter ,drilled holes in front of the air air box and now running on 95 petrol , the next step is to do a dyno and see if i have made any ground. that's about it for now. will let you know how the dyno go's , it's booked in for next week.

132's pretty decent for a stocker.

the 5l EFI isnt known for making much power in standard form, so i wouldnt stress, just be thankful that you at least have a manual lol.
get an exhaust with extractors with CAI and filter and a J3 chip to get a decent tune in and you should get a bit more kick, but most get good gains from changing heads and manifold.

run 98 instead of 95.
but yeh thats not bad power for a stock 5l
they are gutless but a manual would certainly help it out

when i had the dyno done it had the old standard exhaust , standard coil and a the air flow not working right. if you look at the dyno sheet you can see the air flow ratio was down in the 10's making it run too rich. now have replaced the air flow , new headers , exhaust , msd coil , drilled hole's in the front of the air box. has had no head work or cam done. going in for a another dyon run next week will post results.

yes will like to get my hands on a explorer manifold or a gt40 manifold. been looking out chips for the ecu but a little lost as there are to many to choose from. And trying to found some here in new Zealand for the right info is next to impossible.

With just adding timing theres a 9rwkw gain, i recon your power should be between 140-150rwkw with those mods.

My mate has a series1 el xr8 5speed and the only mods when he bought it was a full exhaust system, it made 127rwkw...

After fitting an rpm2 manifold and 70mm T/B he ran it on the crescent motorsports mainland dyno and made 160rwkw with a 13.1afr, seems the manifold (better flowing) and full exhaust leaned out his afr.

On the same dyno that day a series2 el xr8 (explorer manifold) pulled 156rwkw with underdrive pulleys and full exhaust (T5).

My eb fairmont made 108rwkw stock with 12.5:1 afr so so crap.
