A new custom conversion kit allows Commodore owners to Camaro-ise their car.

Love it or hate it, the modern day interpretation of the classic Chevrolet Camaro is a head-turner – and it’s a face Aussies could be seeing a lot more of.

Victorian engineer Luke Bromidge has developed a new US-flavoured conversion kit for Australia’s best sellingcar, the Holden Commodore.

The 24-year-old spent three months developing the Chevrolet Camaro-inspired front-end, which he has now fitted to his own car, a Holden SS Ute.

The kit uses genuine General Motors parts, as the Camaro is based on the same underpinnings as Holden’s locally built Commodore range.

I'm picturing a Sportwagon with that front looking awesome.

It's funny that 30 years later this is happening again, back then it was Kingswoods with Trans-Am fronts on them.

i like the pontiac front end on wagons and utes, looks horn.
i think the comaro front end pokes out a bit too far for the ute, but might look ok on the wagon, sedan might be a bit gay though.

would be interesting to see it combined with a HSV style kit and a better paint job

This one needs more billet grill though...

I love how the article makes out is was only possible because of a global platform, yet the bloke spent months making it fit?

I'd prefer the AU Ute with the GT500 Front thats on AFF.
even if its an AU.

Well i'm new to this great site and after having a look at some of the fantastic projects on here i thought i would post a few piccs of my own project. i have an old AU v8 ute that i wanted to make look a little different and stand out from the rest, and having looked at all the bodykits on the market was a little dissapointed to find nothing to my taste so thought i would make my own. so heres a few piccs of my old ute

Image

this is the ute as i got it a while back.

Image

not a real nice fit ahhaha oh well

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

so thats it so far as i have had a new house built and a decent shed to work in as i was a little restricted in the garage on the side of the house lol.

this is the intended look for the front

Image

i am almost there now and have all the front off at the moment as i am moulding it and only ever intended to use the gaurds as plugs so i can reproduce this front end in fibreglass. i'm a bit away from finishing it but it will be a bolt on kit so it should be any easy fit up when i have done lol. and i then have the option of selling a few to regain a few dollas as ther may be a few otheres out there wanting something a little different to what is out there at the moment :bounce

On both of them, the only thing that will wreck the look is the mismatched flares on the rear.

Id love a VE wagon with the Pontiac front though, tough!

Trying to picture it. Pretty sure it'll look shithot with the rears flared. Guess it'll just look like an AU with flared arches from the rear.

i love the new camaros but putting the front on a commo is as bad as a chev badge. from the front people will be like "look! a new camaro!!" then "oh, its just a ve"

i think if i had a ss , id sooner put a pontiac front on it than a camaro front.

Seriously on drugs I think.

Pontiac front looks VOMITOUS. Even worse than stock VE, it's an abortion!

Camaro front looks better than stock VE but still nowhere near as good as a proper Camaro.

At least it's better than the plastic pig bodykits walkinshaw sell :/

Fair point. But the difference between the two are the AU is a one off. The camaro front is a Kit so anyone can buy it, There's alot of custom work on the AU where as the VE is unbolt/bolt on.
