Under appreciating car owners...

Postby mooseman » November 25th, 2010, 10:37 pm

I was thinking about this today wondering if anyone else has a similar story.

My mates dad owns a car yard, Thus he gets a different car every year or so and just drives them into the ground. His current car is a 1998 EL Fairmont Ghia with FULL options, bodykit, sunroof, electric seats, woodgrain momo steering wheel, dual airbags, V8, etc and only 200,000kms. This is pretty much the best of the best as far as general production e-series go (probably equal with a fully optioned EL2XR8) that someone paid an awful lot for once upon a time and he seriously neglects the car. Always filled with rubbish, never services or washes it and has had two minor accidents in the few months he has owned it...

The worst part is that he only paid $3300 for the car!

Yeah its crazy hey...
You see cars like that getting around all the time, could be a really nice car but the idiot driving it doesn't give a shit.. i saw a cobalt ED xr8 sprint yesterday with a smashed in front and the rear looked like it hadn't been washed for about 5 years lol. i was so tempted to go and ask him how much he'd take for it! lets hope it wasn't genuine! lol.

Under appreciating car owners...

Oh boy do I feel this post, I see it all the time and it kills me. Those people are as bad as the ones who buy ferraris and then granny them down Springvale road once a month and then put them back in the garage. There ment to be driven ffs if your not going to drive it or treat it like it should be then don't bother owning it leave it for someone who cares.

Yep, its stupid. A guy I know got given a black VU maloo for his first car, (from his parentals) didn't wash it for 3 years. My EB looks waaay better because its clean :)

I disagree, I take pride in things I own, even if it is only a car worth $2000.

I'd much prefer to drive around in a clean, maintained car than driving it into the ground and having to fix things on it that could have been avoided with maintenance. Then in the long term having the hassle of buying another $2000 car because the last one gets driven into the ground.

i hate it when you see a potentially nice car and it looks fucked. My EB has been washed 3 times this weeks lol. because it rains for like 10 mins each day. just enough to dirty the car
